Good luck getting any type of gaming configuration for 450 dollars. A get video card will take up most of that cost alone. You could try looking at the site "ibuypower", and custom build a decent one for about 600 I think. But, you would be best to wait awhile, save up at least 1-2000 dollars and get a good one that will last years.

Hmmm. I think if you want to get a decent one for gaming, you should get at least 4 gigs of ram ddr3 is best, get at least 1 gig of video card, definitely get a quad core(they are cheap nowadays), make sure you have a decent hard drive( I wouldn't worry as much about the size as much as the speed, I hate slow load up time). On ibuypower I think you could get a pre-built custom one for about 700 with the ddr3 memory. Also, a network accelerating card wouldn't be a bad idea, but those little things add up, which sucks.
I have a pheonom quad, only 4 gigs of ddr2 ram, crappy hard drive at 320 Gb, 1 gb 4000 series of ati radeon card, and it still plays call of duty on decent settings nicely. All those things could probably cost around 400-600, depending where you get it, I think. Basically, whatever you do, just make sure you get at least 4 gigs ram, a video card(not a chip a card), and a quad core, adn you should be able to game decently well.
Don't go by my stuff 100% though, I am not really an expert, I am just going by what others have said. But, I haven't had a problem on any thing so far, just on stupid internet lag.

i would recommend the following:
3 GB Ram
1 GB graphics card (choose Nvidia)
21 inch lcd monitor
asus motherboard.
Some games require more harddisk space so go for 1 terabyte harddisk. in india it costs abt 6000 rupees. that is roughly around 150 US dollars.
I have the above configuration as I am a hardcore gamer too. and any game i play works well with my pc.
happy gaming

well... 19 or 20 inch should be ok. anyway the bigger the screen, the better the gaming experience.

It also depends on what kind of games you like to play. If the games are graphic intensive then you should go for higher video cards. If it's memory intensive like MMORPG games you should have high RAM and also a processor.

Definitely, it really does depend on the games. I am an all arounder, so I just make sure I am covered in every area, just in case, and because I hate getting games finding out I need a graphics card that needs a pixel shader 3, haha. That was on an rpg too!Haha. Good point though.
