This is exactly why i wanted to be a stay at home mom. Who CAN you trust? My daughter is in daycare part the day so thee is some comfort in knowing they are government regulated and inspected, etc. I have had on a rare occassion a friend's daughter watch my daughter for 2 hours or less - this was when she was an infant and she only slept the whole time. The one time I went out for a job interview that lasted forever I had a firend watching my daughter (maybe 15 months old) and when my husband went to pick her up my daughter was playing on her kitchen floor without any clothes on!!!! Her excuse - oh she just got away from me when I went to change her diaper! Yeah right - needless to say I have no social life becuase my daughter is mostly in my or my husbands care.

It is very hard to trust baby sitters and nannies they could fake there references. The best option to me is if you can afford to stay at home with your child until they are school age. God Bless

i used to trust my babysitter but now i'm getting doubts! and i don't know what to do because unless my husband gets a really good paying job then i can stay at home..but other than that we need the money!

you should never trust them, unless they are single and live with you and are above 40

I wouldn't trust anyone I didn't know to look after my kids. I think, if you really HAVE to be away from your kids, a family memeber or very close friend if possible would be the best. Other than that, I would say check anyone out and be very careful. I know so many people who are supposedly caring for children but I have seen how bad they are despite convincing people to give them good references, etc. Of course, that's not the case with all of them but just be very wary.
