Gulf Coast Residents. The oil spill has grown into a horrific mix of oil and saltwater. Fish, pelicans, and birds alike are dying because of the horrible and adverse effects of the disaster. Gulf Coast mylotters, how might life, with its beauty and endless fascination, be affected by this tragic and ever-growing monstrosity?

Thanks for a nice and important discussion. We are away from Gulf Coast though feeling for the peoples living there. However, I guess international community who take care of the world will be more active to save cities from the accident. This is an accident and hope despite huge loss of sea lives and resources - the problem will solve soon by the grace of Almighty

And they told us that the oil spill will travel around the Loop Current and the Gulf Stream into the Eastern Seaboard, including the area in which I live in. Man. This is going to take years, decades, maybe even one century to completely clean the oil spill and recover if that oil gets anywhere near the very nice and beautiful beaches of the East. BP should stop the efforts of capping the oil spill before they make things worse. BP shouldn't have built an oil rig in the middle of the Gulf of Mexico, just 50-75 miles from the Louisiana coastline (populated areas).

President Bush signed the agreement .
Yes the oil is expected to hit the ,eastern shoreline by the beginning of July.
In such bad economic times,I am sure businesses will close down also.
Who is gonna stay at the beach for a week or two with this hindering.
As I see it the trickle effect will impact, us all at some point.
The poor birds, and sea life is the real heart breaker.
All the innocent will suffer for what this British Petroleum has done.

It has been declared a ecological disaster. It makes me sick to see something like this.As stated above it is heart wrenching ,what the sea life is going through.Let alone what furry the ocean may send back to us after this uncalled for disaster. They were comparing it to Katrina what a joke that was a natural disaster not a man made one.
I hope BP goes out of business,Or worse tar and feather them. They were playing god on our open sea's .I see no relief in site yet! Not that it would change what is already done.

Hi, mlotta!
That's really a horrible disaster. I feel sad about it and best wishes to all creatures living there.
Oil is dangerous for all the living things. It can stain birds' feather, and the birds can't fly again. Waterfowls have axunge covered on their feather so that they can float on the water but oil can dissolve the axunge and the waterfowls will sink. Oil covers the surface of the sea and oxygen can not get in, so fishes will be choked...even people can be harm by the poisonous component in oils.
I hope the oil spill can be sealed again soon.
