I have heard people saying that I am inspired by so and so person and most of the time it would be a film star, a famous player, a singer, a poet, a freedom fighter or may be some philosopher but it’s rare when someone get inspired by a family member.
There are many people around us who influence our life, we may not notice that but it does happen. Same is in case of family. If someone asks me to choose someone from my family who inspired me. It would be my Late Grandfather. He was a teacher of mathematics and started his job after 8th standard which is nothing in today’s pattern of education. One day one of his colleague said that you are not going to grow as you are just 8th standard. He had already served many years in the service and was married. That was the day when he decided to enroll for further study and spent another 5 years to get graduation degree and again faced that same person.
He retired as Lecturer of Mathematics. I always miss him.

Yes ASB, similar to you, I am also inspired by my grandfather(1890 - 1973) like you! He was a person of simplicity, faith and activity! During his prime working age, he was working as tourist operator and religious worker between Purba-Banga (now Bangladesh) and Puri-Bhubaneswar of native state Orissa, with a team of contemporary persons! He had continued this till he was of age 52 and then took voluntary retirement due to some problem in his left eye around 1942. As I have observed in my childhood, he was very much active in agricultural management, plantation and religious activities in his old age at my native village! He always says to use every moment and scope in a productive work and remain simple and calm always! He was a regular reader of 'Srimad-Bhagabat' in our local language Oriya. His learnings to me in some of my leisure hours of summer-vacation about God, distance places and past times is an unforgetable memory for me! He has left us about 36 years back in 1973 at the ripe old age of 84, but his inspirations is now a good experience for me in most of my daily activities!
Thanks for this nice dicussion and hope these valuable inspirations lead all of us for a better living!!

hi ajay,
oh that's really inspiring. and good of you grandfather.
on my part, my late maternal grandmother inspires me a lot. she's one great grandmom willing to sacrifice for her children and grandchildren. she never stops dreaming and working for us and she really do her best to give better life to us. she raised my mom & my uncle alone since she gets widowed when they are still young. although she marry again but still its her who works for her kids and she also took good care of her new husband's children like their own mom. but sad that their relationship didn't work and so she just go broad to work as a helper. and she stays there for long years to provide for her children. she has been my inspiration coz i always see her as a strong and loving person. she sacrifice a lot for us and has been a very good mom not only to her children but to others as well.
and even on her last days in this world, she's still trying to help everybody around her. and when she helps she help with all her heart not waiting anything in return. she just got a pure heart. and all her advises really inspires me alot that gives me strength and makes me a fighter during those difficult moments in my family's life.
she will always be my hero...my inspiration!
and now my parents also inspires me and how they handle their relationship as couple. that even they have been so many struggles and difficulties in their life & relationship, they are still together now getting stronger...

I can just say that my life was shaped by him, he was a great forward thinker. I believe that earlier education had much value for basic things rather than running behind technology.
Thank You for the response Sir.
