There is one priest in the temple nearby my place.I visit this temple every thursday without fail (YEAH Mr.Sunnycool believes in God and himself).
Priests in temple make a lot of money by offering special rituals to God on behalf of devotees. It would be upto us to offer money once they're done with those rituals.
There was this middle aged woman who visited the temple this thursday with her two cute little girls. She did bought a ticket for the Rituals and she wanted the priest to bless her girls for a bright future and asked her elder daughter to touch his feet so he could bless her......
But this Greedy Priest gazes at the mother.....there were other people around so the priest couldnt ask her directly for money...and the embrassed Mom(realizes his thrist for money) and offers him some money only then the child gets her blessings. The little girls were really cute that you would end up blessing them heartfully...but he was quiet determined to make money.
He must have been working there for years now and must have earned a lot....still he wants more...he is looting the devotees indirectly indisguise of God and i hate such people.
Do you think every thing comes with a price??? Even God's Blessings ???

BB, i am going to step on a few toes here. I am in that MOOD today.
First of all, no one pays to get blessed. Really, what is the world coming to. I would have slapped him, if he tried that one on me. I think such ''priests'' should be removed from temples and churches. You give money to them because you want to not because he is a greedy a$$ and going to hell himself for beign such an greedy a$$hole. TATA.

it's the way of the world today sunny.. we've got to pay for everything that we want. most probably someone might come up with a story of how we might have to pay money to get into heaven..*sigh.. money being the current life-blood of everything, it has even made some people forget about their role in the world and honesty and sincerity takes a back seat for a while..
anyway, if you want me to continue typing, you'd have to start paying me hahaaa..

I do not think that God's Blessings ought to come with a price. In fact, I seriously doubt the ability of a greedy priest to be able to be effective in blessing anyone. This sort of thing went on in Europe in the Middle Ages causing the church to have to introduce reforms.
What I believe in is "what comes around goes around" so as for that priest, in the words of a former US TV star "God will Get Him!"

He's got lot of guts to demand money infront of the God....he would be doing this until one stops offering him money or he should be enlightened by a great personality

No, I don't think everything comes with a price, least of all God's blessings, but sadly there are some greedy priests who can't think of anything else but getting rich...

Yes!everything comes with a price. But this is very bad on the priest and I will blame the mother to seek blessings from an ordinary priest where there is the Ultimate god in the temple. She could have satisfied by directly praying to god.Priest are just mediators and we can overlook them.

There are mojority who think that priests are really good when it comes to blessings so they do offer some money...demanding it upfront isn't really good.
Priests are respected coz they do spend a lot of time in front of the God performing various rituals so its said that they do have some powers for the good

I believe that everything is come with a price but not like what that priest doing!! And i will say that, that kind of priest is not worthy to be admired. What a materialistic people, he's not worthy to become a priest. I believe God blessing is come with a price and the price is your good deeds or personality not money.

Hiya Alice_in_webland, thank you for welcoming me.
I agree. Mixing money with religion is not right, but sadly some people act like it is the right thing to do.

No I do not believe that it comes with a price, this priest is just making it into a career or job. A priest is there to spread the words of God and do good to the human kind. Their service should not have a price, I believe it is for free. Do God ask for payment when he gives blessing? He only wants us to follow his words and be his servant to live a life everlasting. Although it is sad to know, but there are many priest like that. Priest that in exchange for service, you need to pay them money. God is watching, this Priest should not be like that, they have to do their service for free because what they are doing is for God.

I do agree with you they do believe in the proverb "make hay when the sun shines".But this doesnt take them too far and this ends when people starts questioning him for demanding money to offer blessings which comes free of cost.we can ignore if he were a younger priest as there are chances that he is still new to this profession...but this priest is aged around 50 and i bet you he must have earned a lot until now

Hey sunny! I think that is very sad, as it is very wrong! If
this man, was indeed truly a Priest then in his heart and soul
there is no way he would be so greedy! So I think that he is
not really there for the right purposes! As we say, "God
doesn't like Ugly" and this Priest will have to face his maker
and the "Payback will be a beotch"!

I think he should learn to be loyal from his fellow priests who never demand for money. They only accept what comes their way than to insist on specific amounts

I've seen and heard priests asking more money to perform various rituals. But normally i've found priests at temple willing to perform pooja and bless people once the ticket amount has been paid.I guess i must be lucky since the place i worship the priest doesn't demand money and in fact showers blessing as one starts praying. But i've heard several instances as you say of the priests demanding money for rituals.

There are other priests as well in the same temple and they never demand for money no matter how much you annoy them for Prasaad and blessings. This particular priest is soo greedy...he could have exempted those cute girls atleast.we cannot expect good everywhere.

Hiya sunny,
Well sunny he could have been a bit more discreet could´nt he the poor Woman I bet she did´nt know where to look.
I would have supposed to that you would have to give the Priest something but not for him to make it so obvious. Money is left on a plate here if you wish. But most People leave money anyway.
I am pretty sure they are not all the same. There is always a mixture of good, middling and worse in every place all over the World.

I think this is one place we could start avoid paying! There is no need to bribe here! If you believe in god, you cant be doing wrong in the same place that he is there! No way! Avoid rituals. God wouldnt be listening to the sinner's pleas anyway!

I do believe that everything comes at a price but never thought that a preist will ask for money for blessings. That is bad, I cannot say him preist, he is running shop to fool peoples and get money. He is not the only, there are many like him and its because we belive in mediators, why do we need blessings of that preist, he is not GOD. If we get blessings of GOD, who else is left.
We should discourage such acts, whatever we offer as per our capacity or wish, that should be ok but some preist askign money for blessing is tooooooooooo bad.
I do not believe in all these BABAs, they are just money makers. There are good people as well among these but most of these are money maker without doing nothing.

everything on earth is priced by greedy people, your illustration is a classic example of gullible people being jaded by so called prophets of God, the bible clearly states, those you receive free, must be give free, i don't know the exact verse and words but i can assure those are the contents.
the mother should realize that there is no need for asking a blessing from a man especially a greedy man, she should come directly from God.

As someone in the business field, I do believe that everything comes at a price, be that in cash or in kind. Of course, I do give discounts and freebies given the right circumstances. BUT, if you're a broker who doesnt have a guarantee and a penalty clause on what you say you could do, then I dont believe you.
You see, for me its like this: if you have something to offer and I have something you might need, then we can do an exchange. Im deal with that. However, if you offer me what is not yours in the first place, then still get what I have with the third party not getting any, especially if the other person doesnt know that you're trading his goods and blessing, then you better go before I call the police.
That seems to be the case with the story you told. Exploiting the faith of believers for self gain is just plain wrong. Most especially if its at the promise of God's grace because He is the only one who can promise that. I dont mind if the church/temple is collecting donations as long as those go to the betterment of the church/temple and the community and not for the priest's personal things. If the mother were to pay it has to be to God himself and not to the priest. The priests offer a vow that they will be messengers and messengers alone. Sad thing is that some priests become priests because of the monetary turnout.

Sheesh that's terrible. I do believe everything comes at a price, but the things that come from God, we can't set a price for. Its up to him to set that price. Everything costs something, but its not always money.
