That is the most difficult part of being a man, they expect you to be strong at all times...I have read this article that a man wrote about being a man...Living with full of pretensions...and he admitted that at some point he felt the burden of being a man, when he can't cry because it is unacceptable in the society where he belong. When fathers' find their sons crying they would say "boys don't cry" so not to break that appeal of being the brave one...

There is no rule or law that states that men should not cry, every human being cries for while, it just that men are not emotionally showy if you know what i mean, it has been instituted to society that man should be more tolerant to pain, and in some point it is true, true men are more tolerant to pain, can stand with is pride, and control much of his emotion why on the public eye, but onces his alone, he releases his feelings.

Anybody can cry if it is a good outlet at that time.It shall not be seen reserved for girls.I think it is the male chauvinistic mind that impose things like this. But there is no truth in it.In my opinion man should also cry when there is the need for it.Otherwise that suppression will make him mad.

It is nothing that men don't have the right to cry. It is actually the prejudices made earlier that says "Men don't cry." This prejudice is something very silly. And I am against it. yea maybe some men don't cry infront of everybody thinking of this particular statement. But yes some others if they get very emotional and can't control their feelings, they may cry out infront of everybody. But some still cry alone. And I still don't understand that why men don't understand this thing, when we all do understand it.

HI jessica ryan: In my case I'll never tell this to a son because it's not ok and I think that's an erronious conception of masculinity and what males have to do. That's macho I think. Men should not be strong in every case. Men have their own feelings, we are not rocks, we are human beings and it's good to express your feelings in my opinion, this doesn't make you a weak man. Thanks for sharing with us your experience about this subject. Have a nice day.

It's normal for a man to cry. It's an emotional state that he is in pain, depressed, disappointed or problematic. To cry is just to release what you feel and it is indeed healthy. But it is sad that sometimes there are some family who sets rules to their kids when showing emotions.

I do not agree if the man should not cry. Men are also human. Every human being has the right to cry. Many men feel embarrassed if crying. But to me crying is something that is fair. Men or women have the right to cry, and crying is not something to be ashamed.

Ok from a man's point of view. A man can cry, everybody knows that. But they claim a man should not cry. This saying has been sent down from generation. It is only trying to grow men in a way which they can protect their women. Maybe you are asking now how can they protect their lady by not crying. It is only a way to grow a boy tough, real tough and so they don't show sorrow in certain situation. Certain situation that can threatens ones life.
Let i make a scenario and show you. Two men - man A and man B If a robber comes up to man A and saw him crying in fright, the robber is most likely to proceed in his or her actions because he believes this so called man is nothing but a child and cant protect himself.
But if a robber comes up to man B and saw his face serious, real serious. The robber will be tempted to stop his actions because he does not know how serious this man is and the robber might thing he can defend him self in certain situations.
If a man teaches if kid not to cry by using something the kid is afraid of, like lets say a dog. The kid is real scared of the dog. He will cry, and the dog will know he is scared and will then rush after him. But the father will teach him not cry and this will toughen him until this fright will be gone.
If you like my response please rate it as best response.
Lastly, in the society crying will only lead to others thinking a man is girlish. I now a lot of people will say "but if a boy cry I will not feel that way at him". That you are saying now but if that crying continues you will get annoyed of it. Seriously.

I just maybe see it as a way to make the males in the world feel stronger. Because in many different cultures the men is seen as the strong one in the family. They are the solid rock whom everyone looks to to make them feel better when they are down. Also if you do it in front of other men you would be seen as weak and made fun of by them.

Everyone should cry. Men/Fathers say that men should not cry because they think only gay people cry. These are the close minded people. Crying has lots of benefits. This take off some of the emotional baggage that have. We feel really relax after crying.

Hi juggerogre: I agree with you. If you think you need to cry because you are suffering there's nothing wrong about this. If I cry this doesn't makes me a gay person or a girl, I cry because I have feelings and in some cases I need to express in that way that I'm emotionally destroyed. I think that crying is ok in some situations to liberate your emotions. Thanks for your answer. Have a nice day.

Some people believe that men have no right to cry because it decreases their masculinity but that is very very wrong. Crying is one way of showing your emotions when you're angry, sad, or happy; so each and every one of us has the right to cry if we want to no matter what your sexuality is.

I think because all over the world, crying is a sign of weakness. And men are supposed to be strong and die than to cry a tear...at least in public. It's just something that has been taught from way before time. I think that in the past with all the corruption and wars around, men were supposed to be the warriors of the family and women were supposed to stay at home to take care of the family. And if those men cried, their opponents would think they're nothing but a bunch of cry babies. That would be humiliating to be thought of that.
Even though crying is a healthy way of clearning up emotional stress, I believe it's ok for a man to cry once in a while...again, not in public. We're all humans with feelings. I am a girl and have seen men cry and I actually respect them more because they're true to their feelings. And after they cry, they get a clear mind and start fighting against the problems which made them cry in the first place.
And crying doesn't mean having tears. Crying could be an emotional thing. Crying is just some form of sadness, it could be from the heart. For example, if your team didn't win, you get sad and don't want to talk to anyone right? I'm sure that's crying but not physically. So if men couldn't do that either, what are they supposed to do? be happy? ok, that's a little too much.
I think crying is just a way of people in history effectively showing a way of masculinity. It's sad that they have to be so "cut throat" about it but I guess in order for them to survive, they must play the game.
I used to date this guy who was so proud to proclaim he hasn't cried a tear in 10 years and boy was he psychotic. I'm not saying all guys who never cry are messed up but with my ex, he certainly was. lol.

Crying is a way of emotional outburst. Certainly men have the right. I always saw my former BF cried. when he cried in my arms, I felt he was a children. I like this kind of feeling.

We are brought up with mentality that men should be strong and crying can show weakness. That sayings are past down from one generation to another since I don't know when. Of course that's not true and crying can prove you're human. If can't shed any tear, then there's something wrong with you. You probably a robot and you don't know it. So I don't see anything wrong with a man to shed his tears. It's okay to show your emotion.
