Coriander seed and cilantro leaves have many known health benefits and researchers are finding more every day. I got some of the benefits in net. Here are 13 known benefits:
1. Protects against the Salmonella bacteria
2. Reportedly works as a natural chelation treatment
3. Aids in digestion and helps settle the stomach and prevent flatulence
4. Is an anti-inflammatory that may alleviate symptoms of arthritis
5. Protects against urinary tract infections
6. Prevents nausea
7. Relieves intestinal gas
8. Lowers blood sugar
9. Lowers bad cholesterol (LDL) and raises good cholesteraol (HDL)
10. A good source of dietary fiber
11. A good source of iron
12. A good source of magnesium
13. Rich in phytonutrients and flavonoids
So, dear friends, you can think of adding this spice with your daily foods.

I love cilantro!! I haven't cooked much with coriander seeds, but we definitely use fresh cilantro. My hubby and daughter thinks it smells pretty potent, so it's really not their favorite . . . but I absolutely love it. I think it's one of those things that you either love or hate. I knew some of it's benefits, but not all that you've listed, so I learned something here. My favorite is having cilantro in Asian or Mexican dishes. I have a friend who put cilantro in her spaghetti sauce and at first it tasted strange, but after a while I actually loved it!

Wow. I have to start using these more. I just learned about Tumeric too and try to use that whenever I can. Using herbs and plants are just amazing and I wonder why they are not more wide known.

Coriander is my favorite, its leaves is a daily item in our home, one can find bunches of these any time in our freeze, the paste is used in almost all curries for flavor and rich taste, powder is commonly used as a spice mixed with others..
Thank you so much for sharing.

I guess then, I will have to start buying more cilantro leaves, and make many more tacos here at home for every one, we normally only use it about once every 6 months, but if its that good then I will start using it once a week.

Since eating curry and rice for more than 14 years, almost all of the times, I've used coriander. Although there were a lot of other spices, mostly involving cayenne peppers and other ingredients that cancelled out coriander's lowers blood sugar attribute. Once I tried to eat it raw, very awful.
