Commenting on friends' status

Do you comment on your friends status in Facebook? I have some friends that will update their status every few minutes, some that never update their status and many in between. I don't always comment on their updates, but sometimes if I have something to say I will. I have some friends who have NEVER commented on my status updates - I'm a "somewhere in between" person. I even comment on their game updates sometimes! We've had entire discussions on Facebook that started with a on-line status update. Basically, how "social" are you on Facebook?

I change my status only because of my moods and I do it quite rarely let's say once or week. But I also have friends who write there all the time.I think it is a bit stupid because I don't think everybody should know what happens to me each minute-where am I,What I am doing, who am I with...that is why I stopped commenting as it is pointless gossiping.Just writing some witty thoughts and closing my fb.

I usually only post something if it's unusual or something like that. Although I like to read my friends updates, I don't think they always need to post all that.

I am not social in facebook to be honest. I do only facebook when I do rent a computer in an internet shop. I really don’t care what are the status of my friends. I do log in to facebook to check if someone invited me as friend and if I know them I will confirm them. I also search or join every group on facebook. That is the only thing that makes me keep busy at facebook.

I use Facebook to keep up with what's going on in my family and with my friends. I also like to play the games in there.

I only really comment on my friends status if I have valuable input to provide. I won't just comment on someones status with "lol" or some 3 word sentence. I make sure what I'm posting is worth saying.

Exactly! I like the conversational comments, not the meaningless ones.

I'm pretty social, but I don't update minute by minute.

I actually updated mine a few times yesterday - twice in one hour even! That's a rarity for me, but sometimes I do have to wonder about those that update every half our or so...

Well i comment on some of my friends status but not always i just view the status on the homepage then think abit should i comment on it or not. Then if i feel like i have something fun to comment then i will comment or i'll just leave it.

I have my social and my anti-social days on Facebook, but a good majority of the time, I'll comment on a friends' status if something peeks my interest and I have the sudden urge to say something. On the other hand, probably about 75% of my 220-something friends on Facebook NEVER comment on my statuses, 5% more comment here and there when they're got something to say in response to something I've said, and I've found that the last 20% are either family or truly the friends that I've always been closest to ...

I haven't really analyzed it, but I think my makeup is about the same mix as yours - with the same outcome :)

I can go for days without updating my status but I will usually comment on my friends' status updates. At least the ones who don't post every little thing they're doing throughout the day. My stepdaughter uses facebook to vent from time to time...about her ex or their older son...so we've had long discussions there, too. I guess I'm somewhere in between, too.

I have a friend that constantly uses FB to vent, it's actually not appealing at all. This girl is either venting about some injustice done to her (not really, but that's the way she sees it) or she's spammin' everyone with her business. I don't update my status too much either - but did like 3 times yesterday... Sometimes I'll look at my status and think I've got to change it because it's so lame, but I don't have anything better to put so I just leave it.

Not that much because I don't regularly go and check my facebook account. Probably if I have the time, i do butt in and say hi or hello to my friends and even reply on their status specially if it really needs my concern to reply. It is sometimes difficult to be so open book to any social sites. But anyway, as long as you know your limits with regards to social network sites and your other half or spouse knows about that too, i guess it will be just fine, but not to focus too much on such sites. It is much important for me to be in contact with friends on the first basis, meaning talk to them personally. But if they were so far away, Facebook will be the proper solution to have them in contact.

Facebook is great for people that are not always near by. It also helps when you are in different time zones and it's hard to find the time to call someone.

Some people just aren't into Facebook. It's kinda funny how it's attracted so many people, yet so many people still have no desire to use it. Just goes to show you that we're all different.

I try to comment wherever I can with all my friends . . . but yes, there are some who never comment on mine. Sometimes I will lose heart and end up not commenting anymore on their status updates. I think I am in between person too . . . it really just depends on how well I know a person (by the way, all the friends I have on Facebook are people I know or knew person, with the exception of a couple).

I started out with just friends and family, then I got hooked on the games and added people for that. It's kinda cool though because I like meeting new people.

I could say that I am also an "in-between" person at facebook. I do comment to some friends and provide status update when I feel like doing it. But at times, I want to be secluded and keep things on my own. There are really people who are very social and give updates about themselves from time to time but I am not one of them. I think, there are still things that you have to reserve for your self and your loved ones.

I try to give some updates, let everyone know what's going on with me. But I usually only update a few times a month. I do like reading other people's updates - the ones that aren't posting every 10 seconds or so.

Am not much, I even prefer to be offline on chat, because I'm more into POKER.. Haha! But I do comment on some of my friend's status, especially when I find it funny or concerns me. There's even a time where a small status ends up in a good discussion, then end up in a more longer chat and a plan comes in that we should meet up during weekends.:)

I have seen quite a few updates or simple picture post turn into a 3-page discussion! That's kinda fun :) Good luck with the POKER!

hello, reinydawn, i am very much social like you. i usually comment on updates just to start a discussion or chat. i am also an in between person as some of my friends never update their status and some change it every hour. i enjoy commenting but some times it results in mis-understandings also. overall its fun. as it is free and much easier. i even comment on their game updates when generally they beta me or they create a new record. i usually play lots of games on facebook and so usually gets comments too.

I have seen misunderstandings too, that's not always fun. But if you know the person well enough you can usually straighten it out. I like commenting about the games too - we've had a lot of fun with that in the past.

I am not on Facebook. I cannot think of any good reason for me to go there, and if I did, I might not make it here very often. On my other sites I vary between being just slightly less connected than here to being very disconnected. I do my best here at Mylot.

Yes, Facebook has taken me away from here quite a bit. But, it is such an easy way to keep up with my friends and family - they don't care for mylot and even if they did, it's not a very good platform to chat with them. It also keeps me up with the games - which I just love!

I'm a very social person in real life but on Facebook I'd have to say nope. I created a Facebook account because, when my son was living out-of-state, he told me I could always find him there if I wanted to get in touch with him. Since then, I've met some old friends on Facebook, people I haven't seen in decades. That part is kinda cool but I usually end up giving them my email address and we communicate that way instead of on Facebook. Other than sending messages there, I really don't have a clue about Facebook and it's many aspects. I don't know about the status thing, the games or anything else there. I prefer it that way. I barely have time to sit down with myLot these days!

I think what I like most about Facebook - other than the games (guilty on that count) - is being able to update and communicate with a lot of people all at one time. It's kinda nicer than e-mail because this way everyone can contribute to the conversation. It does work well for family and friends that are out of the area, although I do still use e-mail for different things.

I rarely comment on the "friends" posts if I don't really know them. I have a lot of friends just from the games. But for my real friends and my family, I only comment if it's interesting. Sometimes they post dumb things that don't really make good conversation starters.

Sometimes I do. It depends on how well I know the person and what his or her status is about. If it is something like 'i just bought some chips,' I don't usually comment. If it is something like 'i won the lottery' or something extravagrnt then I do comment.

hahaha - so if you were my friend in Facebook, you would have been a responder when I announced I won $1,000 playing Keno at a bar, or winning 4 free tickets to Hershey Park? I'm the same way - if it's something noteworthy I'll respond, but the mundane stuff I just ignore.

I don't comment often. If it's interesting and I have something to say, I might comment. It depends on how well I know the person. If it's something funny, I usually just "like" the status.

I tend to do the "like" button a lot too. It does get annoying though because you get notices every time someone does respond to the post.
