Would you have liked Season 6 to have ended differently?

Total spoiler alert for those who haven't tuned in to the episode "Help Me". I like how they made House seem like a real person again, completely fitting with the rest of this season, and I'm all for him and Cuddy, but is it just me, or did that ending seem a little forced? I mean, I love them together and everything, and God knows the show's been hinting at it for years. But it just seemed so strange to have her tell him that she was engaged and then half an hour later, it was off. And Thirteen's departure was just so abruptly dealt with, she got like 2 minutes of screen time and in those few minutes, we learnt that her disease had gotten worse and that she was taking time off. I personally feel that they should have dealt with Thirteen a little more, maybe show the rest of the team's reaction or something. What about the rest of you House fans? Thoughts, discussions?

I haven't seen the show yet but I have been a little worried about houses continual fixation on Cuddy plus there is also his feeling that he always screws up a relationship. Regarding Thirteen' departure, Kutner's departure was even more abrupt, and more final. Sometimes we are left to wonder why cast changes are made on TV shows. Some changes are obvious, for ewxample Bitsy Schramm was fired on Mon because she wanted more money. Kal Penn (Kutner) left House to go to work for Obama so they 'killed him off'. The casr on House had other abrupt changes, such as when House fired everyone, yet all of the the 'fired' actors remained on the show. The actress who payed 13 may have decided it was her time to leave the show. Perhaps the producers thought it was time to bring back Cameron. The show has seemed to start focussing more on relationships; Wilson and his ex-wife, House and Cuddy, Taub and his wife. Chase and Cameron would add o the mix.

Post-rehab House seems very content with not ruining everybody's lives. He even tried to get Chase out of the murder situation without wrecking his marriage to Cameron. I agree, the actors should be allowed to explore other opportunites definitely, because TV shows aren't going to last forever and they might not get the same chances later on. But, at the same time, it would be amazing if the writers could find decent ways to write characters out of the shows. Similar things happened on Grey's, with Katherine Heigl's departure and Brooke Smith's firing, amongst so many others. There are TV shows that have dealt with the actors leaving in a better way, by giving their characters decent exits.

Season 6 was too fast. And I hated the fat embolism part. I mean, how much more can House endure? anyway, The part about Cuddy really got me thinking. He's probably jus hallucinating because of the pain. I don't like the way this season turned out. It became more of a drama than a medical-drama series which made house stand great, apart from similar shows. It used to be that there are like 3-5 episodes in a season that you'd need to watch sequentially to get the story, but now, it's like you'd have to watch the all the episodes sequentially to understand the story

I agree completely. The whole appeal to House is that it's his brilliance that gets the cases solved, but by adding all the drama, they're turning it into just another drama series set in a hospital. The fat embolism part got to me too, it just seemed so unnecessary. He changed his mind about saving her leg and she ended up dying anyway. It just seemed as though they wanted something to drive House off the edge. And according to the show's producers, the House/Cuddy scene was legit. No hallucination, no dream, nothing. Apparently it's their way of seeing if House can ever sustain a real relationship. These things make me miss the early seasons, when it was all about the medicine.

Since you're the one to put me out of my misery in my discussion by telling me how it ended I have to say first that I haven't actually seen the very end yet but from what you told me I'm pleased about House and Cuddy. I'm not so happy about Thirteen's departure but since I read she's only taking a leave of absence I hope that means they're not going to kill her off, at least not right away. I THINK she's going to be on a few episodes next season so hopefully they'll deal with the reactions of the rest of the team then. I've been wondering if Cameron was going to be coming back since her name is still shown in the opening credits and she did make that one appearance a few shows from the end. Annie

Aw, House and Cuddy were really sweet together :) I read the same thing about Thirteen, apparently she'll turn up in the first few episodes of the next season and then go shoot her movie and the rest of her future's up in the air. I really hope they don't kill her off, I really like her. Cameron's left for good I think. There was some interview where Jennifer Morrison said that Lockdown was her last episode as far as she knew, on the series. It kinda sucks though , the way she left. With the divorce and her and Chase finally patching up and everything. :|

Yeah. I think this season of House just threw everything out of whack. They seemed to resort to many cheap jokes and unrealistic situations such as Foreman and Taub getting stoned in the basement...It just seems like there is too much random spontaneous drama. Nothing really lead to Cuddy getting back with House; there were no signs and really no reason to. I wish they would make a good ending and just end the entire series rather than extend it and cheapen its value.

I agree completely. It would have made perfect sense with the storyline to have House and Cuddy to get together after she got her baby, but this season it looked like she was so happy with Lucas, and there was hardly any interaction with the two of them except in the last episode of this season. I'm all for House and Cuddy being together, but I just miss the first few seasons where it was more about House being all brilliant instead of how he's consistently losing the people who are important to him.

The ending really threw me off. I recall seeing some behind the scenes footage of Lisa Edelstein (Cuddy) saying something like "I can't imagine the amount of hate mail we would get if it all ended with House and Cuddy sailing into the sunset together". Fortunately this is House, so no one can actually be happy for more than a few episodes, which is kind of the way i like it. Also, I wish the show would go back to focusing on House being an unmatched genius, rather than House being slightly better at interpersonal relationships than before.

I used to be a fan of House and Cuddy before, way in the early seasons. But now, I don't know anymore. House has put her through so much and I just can't see this working out between them now after all that. If he hasn't changed his behaviour for such a long time, it'd be very unrealistic for him and Cuddy to play happy couples now. I'm not really bothered about Thirteen, I was never really a big fan of her. I hope they get some edgier woman character on the show now.
