Have you done a 5K?

My girls are on our homeschool cross country team. Go Spartans! Anyway watching them run just made me want to run too. The girls run in 2-3 5k's a month.
I have done four 5k's so far. I am about 75 lbs overweight so I walk/run them. I have increased my time each race. My last race about 3 weeks ago my time was 53:30. I know it is slow but at least I am trying. I am losing weight on Weight Watchers so that makes it easier. Lost 27 lbs so far.
I plan to do another one on 6/12.

You keep running pholdermom! The main thing is to finish each race. The second thing is to just do it a few seconds faster than last time! Good job! Keep up the work mom! I have run 10 5Ks now. I try to do one a month. Finances won't let me do more than that right now but if I had the money I think I would try to run one every weekend!

That is awesome!
I don't run more than one race a month generally, but I have raced 4 5Ks so far. I also did one for charity that was just for fun, which was really cool because then the experience was much less painful. But I do enjoy actually racing 5Ks too. It's usually the shortest race I can find around here so I feel like it's a good test of my speed and still an endurance test as well.
Congrats on the weight loss too!

I have run 2 5K's.
I'm running a 10K on 6/26 so skipping the 5K on the 12th that I wanted to do. I just can't afford to enter all the races I'd like or I would be running them every weekend through autumn!!
I love the race atmosphere. Makes it so much more exciting than just running 5K on your own which I do 3 times a week.
Congrats on reducing your time each time you do one. The best way to race is to beat yourself :) It's really fun to watch yourself improve over time. You will have to arrange one for you and your girls to do together meeting back up at the finish line of course so everyone goes their own speed.
