if you are like me and love getting free samples of things what do you use them for? when i get like toothpaste or shampoo type things i usually store them to use if i go on a trip so i dont have to pack full size bottles that take up a lot of room and can spill out.. others i may keep if i accidentally run out of something and cant get to the store for a day or so so i will have a trial size of whatever to tide me till i can go shopping.. what do you do with your samples? do you use them right away or do you store them up for certain occasions like i do?

Samples do not always come by here. The few I got I used them right away.

is it because of your location? i know even though a lot of them are sent to my country i usually find out too late

Perhaps yes! Perhaps the small size of the market here as well.

Hi moonlitmagikchild, I do get lots of free samples and in most cases it depeneds upon what sample is. If the size is small as you said it correctly then i too save it for the trip and if the sample size is big enough and if i need to use it then i use it otherwise i gift it away. Since i work in a dental hospital so i do get lots of tooth brushes and paste and mouth washes as samples , most of them i gift because if i dont then they would expire and wont be of any use to anyone. But i do keep very small tooth paste tubes like 20 gm paste so i can use it in a train or if i go out.

Hi, moonlitmagikchild. When I get samples in the mail or from someone, I will put them in my plastic container. I will only use them when I have ran out of something. I do this with my toothpaste a lot. I love having a back up plan, when my things run out. It helps me out some.

I usually use them right away. I never try to replace my regular products with samples, I just use them in addition (now that I think about it, though, it would be nice to not have to buy things like shampoo & conditioners - just use free samples all the time. LOL.) I usually get things like food, gum, or shampoo or conditioner - all of those things I can usually use up in about a week tops.

yeah thats why i use them for travel because after 1 or 2 uses they are gone but you dont have to worry about big shampoo bottles in your bag spilling on your clothes etc

I love getting freebies and I use them as a spare in case the items are currently using gets used up. Bring them along during trips because they are so compact and easy to carry. Of course I only use freebies from trusted brands because you'll never know what other brands has. If I use an unknown brand freebie, I would use it in the comfort of my home so that just in case that something goes wrong, I can fix it.

yeah i usually only use the samples of brands that i know are common.. some of the samples i got for like vitamins or drinks etc and i had never seen the brand before i usually end up not using them in fear of it being some demented person on the internet giving away poison or something lol

Hello Here they don't give samples of any thing, but usually give a small bottle of say hair oil, 50 ml when you buy a big bottle of 600 ml, same in case of soaps, 50grams cake free with 4 cakes of 150 grams.. i keep them and use them when i travel in connection with my job.. Thanks for sharing. Welcome always. Cheers. Professor

i usually use the sample products i get. in that case, i could decide whether to continue using the said product or not. i seldom go on a trip so there is no reason to store them.

Hey moonlit! I had been getting a load of samples all the time and I got so fed up one day because I didn't know what to do with them that I threw most of them away! And now that you just mentioned what you do with yours I am so angry at myself for not thinking about it before I dumped them! I had so many shampoos, conditioners, hand creams, and I don't know what else! That's my problem, I keep stuff for so long, it piles up and I get crazy all of a sudden and decide to "straighten up" and then I'm sorry! Thanks or the really good tips! At least for next time...

Normally I will stock up on the samples such as toothpaste, body wash and things of that nature. I am like you, use them to travel with or if we run out they are an emergency stash. If it is food items, cereal, snack bars etc, normally I will eat them as a snack or give them to the toddler and 2 year old running around the house for a snack as well. I just love those free samples!

most samples are just so cute, i store them for future use but sometimes I just have so many of them, i sell them really cheap when my family holds garage sales. i am however a lipstick hoarder so i keep them in my collection and bring them when i do people's make-up, they add to my professional appeal.:)

I love getting free samples, too. Sometimes, I'll try them right away because it's a new product that I'm interested in. Usually, though, I save them for the same reasons you do or I give them to my sons. I don't give my sons many samples because they're kinda picky about shampoos and things like that but I always try to convince them that having samples around is good for emergencies. My oldest son may just be finding that out right now because he took a trip to Ohio with a couple of friends this weekend. Samples are perfect for traveling as long as you're not planning on staying too long. Sometimes, I'll use the shampoo/conditioner samples simply for a change. Sometimes, those changes turn into a lasting love affair with that particular brand. I've actually changed the shampoo I've used for years because of a sample. I've used Dove everything (bar soap, liquid body wash, shampoo, conditioner, deodorant) for a long time but not long ago I got a sample of Pro-V shampoo (a new kind, can't remember the name offhand but the shampoo is clear) and I totally fell in love with it. It lathers up much better than Dove, even though Dove is great in it's own right. Samples are so cool, aren't they? It's like getting a present in your mailbox.

I use them when I'm out of my own things, and desperate. Otherwise I would just give them to someone.

I love freebies. I store the samples until I need them. sometimes when I have too many of them I donate them to the local orphanage that way other people get to benefit from the samples. I also make recommendations for free in my blog to the products that I like.

Right now I have so many lotion samples I really don't know what to do with them! Since I live in a dry climate though I leave quite a few of these scattered around to encourage myself to use it: basket by the tv, glove box, by the hand soap dispensers, etc. For travel toiletries I keep a small bag stocked with shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste samples, etc. on hand so I quickly stick it in my suitcase when I travel. Other than that I don't really store them up, though they can pile up sometimes.
