Do you check your bills before leaving or just pay ?

I was just commenting on the response that I received to another discussion of mine and after reading that point of view I realised that many a times we get cheated and get billed extra. I usually do as I do not want to get cheated and if I find out any discrepancy I point it out and make it a point not to visit that place next time and also inform my friends to check their bills before leaving. Waiting for your comments.

In order not to be cheated extra care and extra sense of alertness should be thing to do. We should give importance to our bills and payments by reading it properly

I would not care if the opposite person get offended as it is my money and I want to see that I am not being charged for something I have not purchased.

Yes many people do not check because they have this feeling that the opposite person may get offended for the mistrust shown .

I always check my bills before leaving. It has been taught to me since gradeschool and it served me well ever since. There are times when others make mistakes. It's unavoidable. Besides, I blame myself whenever I get too timid to even check my bills that's why I make it a point to check it everytime.

And then why should we be cheated off our hard earned money.

Most of the time it's just mistakes. People tend to give a little more or little less change. It's not that they're cheating our bills.

I used to just pay right away when I received the bills without checking. But my wife usually checks the bill. There were instances that indeed there was a mistake. So now, I have learned to check the billings to insure that it's accurate.

I always check my bills before I leave. I especially do this in the grocery store because most of the time the checkers do not always know that something is on sale. This has happened to me especially in Walmart. I am always going to the customer service desk and having them correct a pricing error. I also check my phone bill, my power bill and my Internet bill. I have had a few occassions where I have been over charged on my satellite bill and keep on writing letters to get it corrected. These companies do not care who they rip off.

We used to eat out often before, and when we do I always, or my hubby, double check our bill. People can mistake unintentionally, yes, and we had an experience on it too. They billed us an additional menu we didn't order, good thing I reminded my hubby to check the bill. The resto acknowledge the mistake and we only paid for what we just ordered. Reminders to everybody, do check your bill before paying, there's no harm in checking it. Happy Mylotting!

I always check our bills before paying. I do not want to pay more. The companies billing us might commit mistakes. Money is not that easy to earn. We should be very careful with the way we spend our money.

I do not usually check my bills if it is on a grocery or department store because I can see each item being checked and read by the bar code reader. I just make sure that items are being put in the plastic or paper bag. But when I but things outside especially to stores that make receipt manually, by writing it on a piece of paper, that is the time when I double check the bills. I also do not want to be cheated because I do not cheat to sellers. I always check change given to me as well not unless I am on a rush. Better be safe and sure than sorry and regret when you are already at home.

Ususally supermarkets are the ones who cheat the most as there are 2 to 3 items with the same names and they just press enter on the first one so I usually always check.

My father taught us to always check the bill before paying. I guess it's never a bad thing to double check before paying. Thankfully, I have not had any experience where the bill did not match our orders and we were cheated.. Thankfully for that, and sometimes, there were moments, were the restaurant was underbilling us, of course I would tell it to them, and sometimes for honestly, they would just tell me that it's on the house.

That is a very good habit that your father has instilled in you as honesty always pays.

Generally I vaguely check my bills, only exception is for telephone bill. They have this history of giving exaggerated bill. Only last month they undercharged me (for the first time in my life)and when I asked why I wasnt charged for my STDs, they responded by recognising the mistake and added that I was supposed to pay the amount not charged later, but since I was a (flattering adjectives)customer, they let it go!!! As if it was my fault!!!

I always check the bill and the calls made by me and my family before opting for the payment. As I have a private connection, I would definitely check as the provider may change the rates and the slabs without intimating.

Well it is just right to check your bill first before you pay for it. It is like purchasing something that you should check on it first before paying for it. It should be a common practice every time you pay for something. Check it first.

I always check my bills unless I'm buying in a supermarket. Using laser to scan bar code usually works correctly. If the bill is writing by hand, I'll check very carefully, I won't let one charactor escape from my eye sight.

I usually check. Well, not always, but usually. I know about how much I should be charged, so I will only double check if I think it's off by a bit.

I usually try to make sure to check all my bills before paying for them because, like you said, sometimes people make mistakes and we get billed for things that we shouldn't be paying for. Or, if they're tacking on a bunch of extra charges, I know to avoid that place afterwards because that's just lousy. I usually don't find too many mistakes on things. Every once in a while at the grocery store or something they'll charge me too many times for an item or something like that, but I worked retail for a while and I know that it's all too easy to do, so I don't make a big deal about it, I just go and have it taken care of. :)

I believe in the institution that I follow. Therefore I never to check my bill and what I do is wait for the invoice arrived. If the bill was not fair, I just ask why my bill is not as usual ..., but it has never happened on my bill.

I always triple check bills, as they have ripped me off before regarding phone bills and internet bills. They actually had the audacity to raise the internet bill by a whopping $15.00 for no reason, what so ever. When it rains a lot here, for some reason they decide to charge an extra few dollars for every phone call, what a rip. And the worst thing is that no matter which company I switch to, it won't matter. They are all the same deals and prices with no promotions and they're controlled by the same company. So basically they've just created a bunch of little companies that offer the same deals with different sites and logo, but they're all run by one huge massive corporation that's really hungry to empy out the people's pockets. Oh well, atleast it's not Zimbabwe with its 12 million percent tax on everything, lol.

I do not check the receipt but i usually have a rough idea in my head as to what the total should come to. If it is a lot more than i have calculated then i will check the bill before i pay. If it is a lot less then i will pay and check the bill when i get home and hope that they have undercharged me :)
