Once again Obama goes to the coast and talk a good talk but he doesn't realize the people are tired of the talk they want action........Got news for you until July nothing will even be started......That's when the new fical year starts and that's when the contracts will be signed....
He's good with the lip service but can't get any clean up started......Watch after the frist of July you will see all kinds of clean up starting on the beaches..Right now it can't be started cause it will through the budget so far out of wack they will never be able to fix it......
So now till the frist of July folks hold your breath cause nothing will get started till then.......He may not be smoking cigeretts but he's sure blowing the smokes...
This is going to be his Waterloo........Just like all the Presidents before have had one.........But unfortunely this one is on our shores.....He could declare this a State Of Emergency and call out the National Guard to help with the clean up but he to dumb to think of something so easy........He setting up in Washington DC with his fingers up his nose and doing nothing.........

July starts the state budget cycle. The Fed's cycle goes from 1 Oct to 30 Sep...so the budget cycle has nothing to do with the lack of action. Obama simply has not taken action to declare this a national emergency and to forego federal environmental and other laws which are precluding dredging, etc. needed to block the oil from coming ashore. Obama and his administration have completely botched this emergency, and I agree, this will be one of his inactions/actions that will bring him down in 2012.

This is a disgrace especially when I read the following article DATED MAY 29,2010
ABU DHABI // A UAE team of oil spill experts with $1 million worth of equipment is on standby, ready to head to the US to assist in the clean up of the Gulf of Mexico oil spill.
“Everyone and everything is ready. We are just waiting for that one phone call,” said Craig Buckingham, the leader of the Crisis Management Team overseen by the Supreme Petroleum Council and the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (Adnoc).
Speaking yesterday at the Crisis Management Center in Abu Dhabi, Mr Buckingham broke down the team’s track record, which included successful oil spill clean up operations in Lebanon and Egypt, and the equipment and expertise that will be heading to the US.
“A team of 30 people, six Emiratis and the rest from Egypt, Sudan, Algeria and the Philippines, all fully trained in oil spill response, have cancelled all their plans and leave in preparation for the trip to Louisiana,” he said.
Every member of the team has on-site expertise, besides their own specialisations in marine engineering, chemistry, environmental studies and IT.
“This will be a great chance for us, the UAE, to show how we can help in international disasters and that we have what it takes,” said Ayedh al Masaabi, 28, an Emirati marine engineer.
If the call comes, he said, “I would be heading to the waters itself as well as overseeing the co-ordination of our team with the rest of the teams there ... We are ready to get our hands dirty in the effort to save the environment and the livelihood of the people affected by the oil spill.”
Besides its skilled manpower, the UAE is offering the latest technology to tackle oil spills of this scale.
Four skimmers, recovery units that suck out the oil, 2,000 metres of onshore boom and 400 metres of offshore boom, as well as two helicopter spray pots to disperse chemicals, are waiting to be mobilised.
“We have been in direct touch with the US authorities, and have presented all our documents and passports to the US embassy. Now we are just hoping we will get the chance to learn and help in the clean up in one of history’s worst oil spills,” said Mr Buckingham THAT IS 8 DAYS AGO!!

01 JUNE 2010: This is from Coast Guard official Thad Allen, who is in charge of the government’s efforts, told reporters that skimmers to help siphon the oil off the surface of the water are most needed now.
“We are looking at offers of foreign assistance, we are actually reaching out to foreign governments,” Allen said.
“Some of the equipment that is most valuable to us right now is skimming equipment. There are different types of skimmers. Some of the inventories are present in other countries,” he said.

IMO our government need to gets their asz in gear and get something done... asking for help by then not bother to take it when it is offered.

I can only think that there is something political behind this hold up.

It is a shame that this is happening. One would think that they would have already had that team here and searching for more. I am certainly glad that I don't live along the coast and would have to see the horror every day. I am so sorry for what has happened and I can only imagine what the residents and wildlife in the area are going through. I wonder how much of this BP will actually be responsible for in the end?

I have been wondering whatever happened to that team whiteheather. I saw something on tv about them weeks ago and they were ready to go! They are experts, they had lots of equipment ready to go and I thought they would be there in a couple of days after that. It's so upsetting to know that they are still over there waiting! Why is it that the US can rush to help everyone else in the world but let someone what to help us and they have to sit and wait?
