I was with eHow when they made the big switch recently. I had only written 3-4 articles (all of which had been published on the site). I think they said if you had 5 you were automatically accepted with the upgrade. I had a little bit of money from article views.. what do you think happened to it? I guess they just kept it. Do you think it is sort of like stealing?

Who knows? Maybe the figures you saw as earnings were just that, figures. They most likely don't pay attention to earnings, until they have to pay when payments for articles are due. I don't consider it stealing, since they hadn't really given you any money, unless you're saying you had money in your PayPal or something and they removed it from that, then it would be stealing. I only read articles on eHow that are short and sweet, I would rather watch an instructional video about the subject rather than reading a long article about it, though.

That's how you earn on eHow. You earn money by the views you have or if people print your articles. It would be like you posting all day here on mylot and have money in this account and then they shut it down and you don't get to collect it. I think they stole it...it was my earnings.

Seeing as eHow has grown a lot in a few years, I wonder if they have good customer service, or if they have customer service at all. Try contacting them and getting a hold of them through email, its probably going to be tough to recover your earnings though. Do you keep track of payments in an excel book?

They should be considerate to people like you, macdingolinger. It's really hurting. If I were you, it will really hurt me. You know why? I am having a hard time writing article because English is not my native langauge, and I deserve to be compensated with my efforts. Now, if they switch or upgrade, they should retain my earnings and give it to me eventually. They should not take it, once it is issued to me, it is now mine even if they have not sent it yet to Paypal. I understand what you feel. Sometimes, these sites, amidst all the praising and defending of other members that it is a legitimate site, I think they are still guilty of short-changing their work force. Yes, it is not stealing, but it is a clear "short-changing", and who among you here like to be short-changed? Raise your hand!

I don't think that you will lose the earnings from the articles that you have already written on eHow. As a matter of fact, I think that those articles will continue to earn residuals.
You should still be able to logon to your account on eHow. It would be a good idea to check, since it is near the beginning of a new month, and see if you had accumulated any earnings during the month of May. If so, then you should be alright.
And either when your articles reach enough for payout, or at the end of the year, whichever comes first, then you should receive your payout through eHow and PayPal. It would be a good idea to logon to the site and make sure that you have all of your information filled in to ensure that you receive your payment.
I also believe, that these articles will continue to earn residuals even if you do not end up setting up a Demand Studios account. Good luck to you all of the other people who are equally frustrated with the new Demand from eHow.

eHow appears to be a very reputable company. I am sure if you contact admin it will get straightened out. I hardly believe that they intentionally stole. I have used eHow numerously and find it to be useful information. Good Luck to you, don't just wonder find out what happened to your e HOW information got removed.
