Food shortage or water shortage. Which would tackle first?

What would be a more pressing problem between a food shortage and the shortage of clean, safe water? I find it hard enough to live without one. What do you think my friend?

Actually, if you base it in necessities or base it on hierarchy both falls in the same level. But if you really wanna know which one is much important than the other. I'll choose water over food. Basically because humans are 70% water, hence we need water more than food. And for the conclusion, humans can live 3 months without food and only 3-5 days without water. Safety falls to the next level of hierarchy already. because it is more of security, water and food falls to the first level because they are basic human needs together with clothing.

Hi shadowluigi! You seem to know your subject well and I'm most impressed. I would personally choose water too because we can't live without water for a couple of days than food. And you have gone further to illustrate why. Yes! as far as water is concerned, first, the need for water. Next, the quality of water. Thank you so much for sharing!

It is a with great pleasure to share some knowledge through post. Your topic is a bit common but still it's interesting... not all people tend to be so simple yet elegant in choosing topics for discussion... Your very much welcome tomi... hope to see you in other post... lol! :)

If you will go back to the old days when cannibals roam the earth, if you ask them which is more important, food or water, I guess they will eat you alive for asking that question. LOL

The trick is to bring water along and you would be safe.

Hey tomi! I think that it would be difficult to live without both! But, I think that a water shortage is more difficult! We need clean and safe water for alot of reasons. We definitely need safe water to drink because we can't live without water! And we need water to be able to cook and bathe! I would have to say we could probably do with a little less food, rather than safe clean water!

Yes Opal. I'm sure we don't want any. But if we have to choose between the two I would have to agree with you too! Thanks for sharing. And take care You!

Water shortage is a far more pressing problem, because in many ways, a water shortage will be a direct cause to a food shortage. I mean, we can handle the food shortage if we have enough water. Food can be grown but it needs water to do so. However, if we have a shortage of water, then there is no way that we could handle the food shortage. Water shortage will in fact lead to the food shortage. That is just the way that it happens to be. We need that clean, safe water and then everything else can follow. While food shortage is a pressing problem, it actually can potentially be a byproduct of the water shortage issue. That is unfortunately the way that something like this tends to bounce. So water is the most important thing to deal with.

Hi megamatt! That's a far-sighted response. Can't help but agree with you. In many ways a water shortage may lead to a food shortage. Tackling a water shortage problem therefore helps us to tackle the food problem in the long run. Thank you so much for sharing!

Hello my friend, for me i think its pretty much important to tackle food shortage first than water shortage. Not that water shortage is not important. Its just that in a community people can actually do something bout water shortage, but as a whole food shortage is pretty much serious for all of us.We experienced lahar flow in our community 6 years ago,it came from a volcano near our place and all means of water supply were cut. But as fast as we could we were able to find ways on how to get water in that dire situation but food? its a different story without the government supplying us with food that time im afraid there wont be any setsuna nowdays whom you are able to talk to

Hmmmmmm this is a great question. Because we obviously need both to survive....I think I would have to say food because a lot of food has water in it so that's two in one. $-MrDollars-$

Thanks for the discussion. The both are essential for our lives. Without water we can not live. And without food we can not live a long. And not only human, almost all the creatures of the world can not live without food and water. So, in my opinion we have to safe water first, then the food.

Water is top priority; food ties with that though~~~ we need both in order to survive... fire and a container to boil the water in.
