Is dealextreme safe?

I bought a pandora battery for my psp at dealextreme.com last week. But then I canceled it before it's shipped. the website said refund pending verification, but I don't know do they really refund or not, so I asked my friend because this is the first time I buy things on dealextreme, and when I asked my friend after I canceled it, he said that website is such scam because everything are free shipping, and he said most of the websites have free shipping on everything are scam. Do I trust him, or I just wait for the refund plus another one I buy on the website. Note: I bought 2, but canceled 1 Please help!
