Do you feel secure in the place you live in?

We used to live in another place but then someone got killed in a house next to us. It was really scary and after a few months there were more news about crimes being committed -- houses getting broken in, fights, neighbors quarreling, etc. Two years after our neighbor was killed our family finally decided to move to another house. We don't want to get involved in any trouble. How about you, do you feel safe in the area where you live?

After moving in my current apartment right now, I thought the place was secure. It was newly built so all the fixtures in the apartment are new. Comparing it to the former apartment I used to rent at, the neighborhood and the place really looks safe for me. Then came one Saturday afternoon. I was enjoying myself while watching televesion. Little did I know that the adjacent unit, which is divided to my place by a single concrete wall was being robbed. No one was in that unit when it happened, but I relly got scared. Imagine if the burglars decided to visit the next unit, I was all alone during that day.I still live in that place now but I make sure that I am never left alone in the place and I always keep the doors and windows locked. After we finish our 1 year contract in that house, we will be definitely moving into a much safer place.

Wow that is scary. We've added extra security stuff in our house and although some people say that we're overdoing it, we think it's better to be safe than sorry.
