Any idea of how to optimize a website and earn profits?

i have seen many websites getting sold for thousands of dollars. So even i created a website. But later i came to know that creating a website will not help you to earn good money. You need to optimize it to earn a good revenue. And to optimize you need the tricks of how to do it. So anybody have any tips,suggestions ideas feel free to share here. How to optimize the website and increase the google page rank as well as the alexa ranking.

You can use forum like Mylot, or social networking like Facebook.I make a mobile site and get the traffic from a WAP PORTAL.I use Admob to make money from it.

The best way to optimize a site, in my opinion, is to create good content. INternet users and browsers are getting smarter and smarter everyday. They will easily know if you are lying or just making up stories in your web pages. Giving them artciles that are new, reliable and of good quality will make them visit your web pages again and again. They would also recommend your site to others if they find them really worth reading. So for a site to be successful, good content should be the web site owners priority.
