Sometimes I expose my identity online. I only expose this in social networking sites. I do these because I want to inform my friends online about me. And also so that my friends can easily find me when they searching my name in social networking sites.

When it comes to sharing work like a photograph or writing, absolutely I want my name attached to it. I created it, I want people to know who made it. When it goes to forums and such that is dependent on which forum. As you can tell (or at least guess) here I am using my real name for my sign in, and really most sites I use at least my first name. I figure people should be accountable for what they say and not just be snarky and then hide behind anonymity.

I always check for the site very well before uploading a picture of mine and when I came across mylot I found it is a very trustworthy site so I have uploaded my own picture and I have chosen it to be like this too, however there are many details which I do not prefer to share online like telephone numbers, and things like this.

In the past, I have been a bit lax about that kind of thing. However, I have grown to be more sensitive about how much I expose about myself in an online setting. There are all kinds of horror stories online, that I just do not want to have to deal with the ramifications of everything involved. It is just one of those things that I learn with experience.
So, at one time, I have used my full name as my user name a lot of the time. However, these days, I would never do something like that. Uploading pictures is something that I would never do at any time. These days, I am far less likely to do it now more than ever before. There are a lot of people out there that I feel uncomfortable with having my personal information out on the table to see.

I also hate publicity that is why I don't really expose my photos to the public especially at online forums, facebook, I mean I am doing such settings so other's won't see any of my images but I am only choosing other people to see it.

Exposure of oneself online is acceptable but overexposure is a bad thing to do. The secrets about you should be kept only with you or to the other person who you are entrusts of. Posting this secrets online will make some negative feedback to the person you have not shared off. The best thing to expose yourself online is to just select the updates and photos acceptable to you and you cannot create a bad image to others.

I think I am too trusting of people!!! I dont hesitate to put photos up of me and my family and friends on social networking sites, though I do only have friends who I know 100% so that isn't really a problem, but then I put pictures as avatars on this type of website not realising really that someone could use my photo illegally!!!!
I don't divulge personal information about me, my phone number or address or anything like that!!!

I don't like to share my personal info on the net (real name, house address etc.) and also I don't like to share photos with me or my close friend.
Maybe if I would use any of social network there I would feel comfortable to share some of my personal photos, but as long I don't use any I can't tell it for sure.

I actually exposed my identity only to some social networking sites from which only my friends from the real world can see. I never exposed my identity if I know It is not a secured site meaning there are thousands of strangers who can view my identity worldwide. I Know that everybody is worried that if ever you will expose your identity somebody will steal your identity and probably give you a bad reputation.
I want to share my identity in some social networking site so that my friends can keep an update with me and vise versa. As long as you don't give out your user name and password I think its same to expose your identity once in awhile.

not to all sites.. i choose what website and not to reveal everything... example my birthday... i wont include the year... my exact location... etc... being responsible is the key... so no one can steal your identity... :)

I don't like sharing my personal info online, even my photo. I think it's unsafe to do so.
Internet is a complex world, everyone is in it, also the criminals. So it's dangerous to let everyone online knows your account, home address, your ID number...
Besides, the enchantment of internet is virtual and mysterious. Everyone doesn't know who is the other side of the line. That's interesting.

Being anonymous is the first thing that most people prefer to avoid invasion of privacy. Yet exposing one's profile and information to the public might be helpful depending on certain situations...
So the last option is up to them, expose or not to expose. That's simply it.
Nice post...

Its fine with me to expose my identity online but only photo not my personal information like house address and other stuff.
Mostly I share my photos in some social network like facebook and friendster, and also my name I don't like to use my real name in online I always use screen name or sometimes anonymous only.
It part of my protection to my self because there are to many evil person who use others information to produce bad things or use it in order to protect their own identity when their going to do something bad.
