About two months ago I was contaced by a friend I had in elementary school through facebook! Found out she lives in Arizona so while on vacation we hooked up....and it was wonderful! We will try to meet again if either one of us is in the area where the other one lives. The best part about it is that neither one of us changed that much! We sat down like old friends. But we also found out that many years we lived within 30 miles of each other and never connected! Have you run into an old friend after many years? (46 for us!)...did they change alot? Are you still connected?

Oh wow, that is great you were able to do this..I tried once to visit an old friend. I was in the neighborhood for my nieces wedding shower and I went to her house and she wasn't home..:( I also looked for her on facebook, but she doesn't have one, so i guess I'll have to try to call her again..

Now that was a neat thing to happen. I hope y'all can get together again soon. I haven't run up on anyone in a long time. I live in a small town & go for years w/out seeing people i know. I don't get out that much i guess.

It was strange when she found me....and she told me that I was one of her only happy memories from her childhood.....and we reconnected like old friends!

Hasn't happened to me, but through facebook I've reconnected with those I haven't seen in a long time. Not friends but people I knew/went to school with. So they found me through someone who did used to be a friend and now I keep up with their lives through updates and such. I think that's wonderful! Now for your next vacation you can plan it one where you meet up somewhere.

Hey jill ooh sounds like it was alot of fun aren't those just the best meetings when it's like you saw each other yesterday lol I've seen quite a few old friends thanks to facebook i'd seen them more recently than you'd seen yours 46 years is older than i am lol but it was lovely to catch up and for the majority of them it was just like we'd been meeting regular. Isn't it funny the thinks you find out it's like how many of your friends know your other friends on facebook and you think how do they know each other lol So will you be meeting up regular with her now then or will it be an email type friendship?

This did happen to me once, but I just had not seen her for about a year. It was fun. She had her kids and I had mine. We had a blast on the beach together.

One thing is for certain about this situation, the two of your are true friends. My mother always told me that with true friendships you can go through many, many years without seeing or speaking to each other but when the opportunity comes around that you are able to meet back up with them you are able to sit down and have a conversation with them just like it was just yesterday that you'd last talked to them. I hope that you have the opportunity to get together again soon.

I will have to try this Facebook thing ,it sounds as it is so popular. I do have several good friends ,some who live in other states, and some not so far away. The thing is about true friends, is that it does not matter if you haven't seen them in 30 years or 30 minutes, they are still your best buddies and it is only like you only seen them 2 days ago, when in fact it has been years. Glad you had a great time.

Hi Jill, How lovely for you and all these years you hadn'tlived that far from each other either for many years. I caught up with someone I hadn't seen in about 10 years last year, and neither of us had really changed much and we fell straight back into being friends but we had in fact fallen out but she needed me and made contact but that another story lol. I am still friends with my best friend from primary school (5 years old) after all these years and sometimes we may not speak on the phione for a year and at other times we wikll be in contact all the time depending on how busy we both are as we do live a dis#tance away. Did mnange to vist her a couple of years back though which was lovely, stayed for a few days. Huggles. Ellie :D

Run into an old friend, no. Connect with a few old friends online, yep. We still drop each other a line every now and then...

that happened to me the other day actually! It was fun having that seemingly endless gossips with her, sharing everything that happened to us while we're not together! Oh, this makes me miss her so much again!

Hiya Jill, Wow you have so many things happen to you in the space of a few weeks. Old School Friends I have been lucky to chase one of them up and we keep in touch through the Messenger or Facebook. She has been a Godsend for me and I hope we can meet up too sometime or another. Glad to see that you could get back together.

Just last year, me and our high school batch planned a reunion. Most of us got acquainted first on our general assembly, nothing much changed also -except that most of them have a family.:) We had fun that night, as we also went on a local bar and try to catch up on some of the lost time. But on the night that was supposed to be our reunion, I wasn't able to come because I had a work. I was a bit sad, because I missed the one's which I wanna see the most. Old friends, crushed and even teachers.:) Luckily, most of them uploaded photos and videos of that night at their Facebook profiles so some of the one's who weren't able to come can check all the happenings there.

About 3 weeks ago a dear friend of mine, since the second grade, came into the St. Louis area to visit her daughter. We are able to see each other every year when she makes the trip here. We rehash all the fun times together as teens and how we spent hours doing a bunch of nothing and never getting into trouble. Those were the best years. She hasn't changed at all. We've always stayed in touch with each other by letters, calls and now email. I've been encouraged by so many to join Facebook and I haven't bothered with it. One of these days I just might do it. Our kids are always all over me about it. Just concerned I would spend way too much time on the computer playing around on Facebook. I already spend alot of my time on the computer doing other things. Evidently there are so many of my high school classmates on Facebook since one of our kids is friends with their kids.

It's great that this worked out so well and you were able to rekindle an old friendship. I can't imagine that happening after 46 years. Frankly, I have trouble even remembering most of my old elementary school chums. If any of them contacted me, I think they'd be highly disappointed with my shaky memory!
