How do you resist the drowsiness at afternoon

I guess that is so common to everybody. At work, right after lunch, I would feel drowsiness during my work. The least I can do, just stand myself up, and walk around the cubicles area for minute, then continue on my work. Or I have to go to men's room to wash up my face. One thing I would do usually, I take my lunch in my car, and right after lunch, I took a nap for 30 minutes. That might help a lot too.
Are there any other suggestions here to help resist the afternoon drowsiness symptom?

Have you tried eating a smaller amount of food at lunchtime??? I went through a time where I became very sleepy after lunch. Taking a short nap just made it worse; so, I had a talk with my boss & he said that since I was the ONLY girl in the office who didn't smoke & I didn't take 5 or 6 smoke breaks a day, I would be allowed to take one long smoke break. So, after I eat lunch & go back to work & when the drowsiness begins to set in, I'm allowed to go outside & walk around the block. Not only is it good for my health, it gets the blood circulating again after the food shuts down the circulation. It also helps to make the afternoon go by faster!!!

You can stay active that works, works well even. Makes you want to go to bed earlier too which is very healthy.
I personally have myself a nice refreshing bottle of Crave energy drink, which I get from my Network Marketing company, it is terrific. One of the best on the market in my opinion, 1/2 the price of red bull, no hard crash later on, it is great.
What do you do for work that you get drowsy? I hardly even think about the drowsiness until after work.
Sincerely and With Appreciation.

Ah, I know that feeling. It's annoying and I wish I were on any bed or the table look nice as well. What I do to 'fight' this : coffee, with plenty of caffeine. Or I drink an energy drink. But it's coffee most of the time. Not cold coffee but either hot or warm. My friend suggested sour candy but it only work for a short time. I also literally slap myself. It works well! Make sure not to hard or it will leave a mark.

Yes, coffee works for me too. I don't drink it often, I drink tea every day. But when I go to London on day trips, I get up around 6am to catch the early train and we maybe get home late at night, so I do drink coffee a lot then.

...Hi kingparker, As I am sure you know, the body gets very drowsy after food comes in and the digestive process starts. I don't how except if you perhaps try to eat smaller portions at lunchtime and chew your food many times to lessen the impact on the system and perhaps make the drowsiness not last quite as long. But the system is sort of programmed to react this way. So small modifications may help. Take care.

Well, usually I can keep myself spirited when there is really something to do. But if there aren't any specified things to do, I may be drowsy at afternoon. Then I'll choose having a good sleep or washing my face with cold water.
Have a nice day and keep Lotting.

Yes, I too gets drowsy right after every lunch time is over and now it is already a habit that I cannot resist so I have to nap for a few minutes. Then after some time, I will be ok. I think this habit is a good one because after some hours of work your body gets tired and a little rest will get you energized for the rest of the day.

Well for a start I would not be having a nap in my car after lunch, that's not good for your body. Instead of sleeping in your car try washing your car, or cleaning out the interior. Basically do some exercise, keep active and enjoy some fresh air in the sunshine. Dont let your body relax too much. You will probably get a better night's sleep if you keep active and eventually you wont feel like snoozing in the afternoon.
Keep well, I hope you find the perfect response here in myLot.

If i feel drowsiness coming on, I fight the urge to give in. I know i must find something elsse to do to get my energy back again. I can sometimes feel this way right after eating. A little bit of laziness tries to filter its way into my busy day. i do whatever i can to stop it.

I guess taking a bath it nice.More coffee or tea.Do not eat too much during lunch, or just a light lunch like noodles, or fruits, salads, sandwish is better than an overfulling lunch, then all the blood will rush to the stomach and not the brain, making sleeping heads. Little nap like 10-15 minutes is good also.Often afternoon naps and refresh the minds.A walk to the toilet for wee wee and some strecthing is nice also.

This might seem counter-intuitive, but a good way to wake up in the afternoon is a quick mid-day workout. If you can, hit the gym or go for a run during lunch. I find that this really snaps me awake and I can have a very productive afternoon. And of course its not bad for the waistline too! Now, if I don't go for my midday run, I'm literally falling asleep by 3pm. You could try just a short 15-20 minute jog.

Well, it is natural to have tiredness in the afternoon, which is why some countries have a siesta! I know I have most energy in the morning and feel tired around 2pm. Sometimes I will have a nap which helps. Otherwise, it helps to move around, keep busy and drink tea or coffee as the caffeine helps keep you awake too. I also wish I could wave a magic wand and just not be tired anymore!!

I heard exercise is supposed to help at "waking you up". It gets the endorphins going in the body. So, just jog a few stairs during a 10 or 15 minute break or something.
