This is a curious question bingel. I know rich people and poor alike who buy lottery tickets. I guess it is just the thrill of it all. But not all people are like that. I have a hard time buying lottery tickets, and gambling in general. I seem to get a little upset with myself when I lose. I feel as if I have thrown the money down the drain, even if it is just one dollar.
I guess the reason the wealthy play is the fun of it, and the excitement. However they are already wealthy but maybe they just want even more money. And the poor people who play, well I guess they want to be wealthy. I don't anyone who can actually say that they wouldn't prefer to be wealthy, although not all people do play the lottery.
I hope that if you play, that you win.
By the way, I received your friend request and would like to thank you. I also noticed that you are fairly new here on myLot, so let me send out a great big "WELCOME" to you.

I think that people just buy these tickets as a way to get rich but it is quite sad when you see old ladies spending their pension money on tickets and hoping their numbers come up. I think the lottery should be banned as it is very addictive and cons lots of people out of their money.

I can't say for others but i would have bought a lottery to get rich in a short while.Probably this is true for most people. We have programs like who wants to be a millionaire? And its equivalent in India. All these are to make money quickly. But in my case i'll spend a miniscule amount money buying them and don't expect to win.

I don't think that as many people by them these days as they used to when they first came about, but I generally think that people buy them because of habit, and because they feel that maybe they might just win some money. I guess for people who do it, worry about forgetting to do it, in the event of the one time there numbers came up, and they missed out because of it. I very occasionally do it, it is not something that I do every week, and generally I do the Euro Millions Lottery, because I find I win more on that one, although not any great amount, but something at least!

I notice that many people by lotteries to become instant millionaire. Many people hoping that someday they will get the jackpot price of lotto. Because of poverty, many people are hoping that their poverty will end when they win in lottery.

I think its just the hope that they could be that one person that wins it all. Haven't you ever dreamed of winning a huge amount in the lottery? Its a fantasy I'm sure everyone agrees would be awesome.

I think people buy lotteries because everybody wants to try his or her luck and they feel that this is the easiest way to earn money.I believe once in a while is fine but if one starts wasting his or her hard earned money on lotteries then it can have a worst effect on once income so it shud be in limit according to me.

Many people buy lotteries because they think and wish that one day the luck will favor them. We have seen many winners and we knew that it is possible to win. Actually anybody can win the only question is when and whom.
As for me I learn to buy lotteries but not everyday. Just to buy it when I want to.
It is also a form of charity and it's one thing that maybe I will keep doing even know it's impossible to win against the many participants.

Playing the lottery fulfills a psychological need. Often, it's about hope and the need to have more of it. For just a small amount, you can buy "hope" and keep your outlook positive.
Of course, for some, it's about beating the system and proving oneself capable of achieving the impossible. This one is a bit of a challenge and will occupy the person for a lifetime or part of it. For this people, it's all about the game.

The lottery is so popular because people see it as an exciting opportunity to get super rich overnight, but they know it's almost impossible. Th point is, why not take a chance at it. No work is required and who knows, you may get lucky. It is a gambling addiction! A lot of contributors can be a result to buying a lottery ticket like not being financially stable, being lazy and hoping for a life miracle, and others. I am guilty of this myself.
