How do you start a business as an portrait artist, how much to charge,

I am an artist and people ask me all the time if i sale my painting. I would like to start but have some difficult to start. can you tell me what is involve in artist business, how to price my paintings, If you are a very good painter, so how you price in this case, or anything that can make me start this business. Thanks.

I am not a painter but I love paintings, I own some from unknown artist. I can suggest how you can sell your paintings, why not create a website where you can showcase all your works and if you are unsure of the price you can have an open auction for it let say all paintings would start at $50 $ 100 depends on size and materials you used, auction ends after 7-10 days i think this one would work as painting collectors always look for a cheaper but one of a kind master piece.

Actually i am working of my painting website but in this days it easy to copy and you know, do what they want without you knowing. But if l will do it so 1. i have to sell the original, while i prefer to sell copy on canvas, 2. Then how am i pricing it now?
Thanks for your respond, as a painter, i can tell you if you love to paint, just do if you have a good eye, and feeling, put them on the canvas. I al;ways say the color paint itself, and 'vualla' something nice unbelievable.
