When and how have you volunteered for others? How did it make you feel? Recently, in Middle Tennessee, where I live, there was a historic flood that devastated the lives of many, washing away their possessions and homes. Many have been volunteering to help clean up and evacuate people from their homes. I would've, but I'm afraid of any exposure to molds and animals, because I also have 3 kids I can expose to that too. So I stayed home, and made sure my friends were okay. They weren't, so I didn't have any guests that evening. I feel glad that in my area not many people I knew were hurt, as selfish as that sounds=/ But if I could've volunteered my time and efforts, I would've, and I normally don't go out and do stuff like that=/

I volunteer quite regularly and have done for most of my life. I just can't imagine not doing things to try to make the world a better place. I hate how much bad there is in the world and volunteering (as well as what I do for my paid job) helps me to deal with that. I spent one summer volunteering in a playscheme for children from disadvantaged families, I used to regularly volunteer on a programme to encourage children to read, I spent a year volunteering as a support worker for a student with a disability, I've volunteered wrapping up christmas presents for children from disadvantaged backgrounds, I've volunteered as a fundraiser...and various other things. I think that there's always volunteering available that suits the needs of each individual. At times in my life I have been able to volunteer full time but unfortunately that can't last so i have to find volunteering opportunities that fit in with my life. I think that it's important that everyone does as much as they can.

Here in the Philippines we were affected by the typhoon of Ondoy or in other terms "Ketsana". During the typhoon I was not able to help other people but just to fix some things so that it will not be broken or even devastated by the flood. We were only listening to the updates from the news of radio at that time. I did not really volunteered to help like packing things and give it out to the victims but I just donated something like old clothes and shell out some money to the fans club of some celebrities that can help in funding for the materials.

I went on a vacation scheme as a volunteer. There were about 20 kids and they were all visually impaired. It was really good fun. We took them to safari parks, theme parks, the chocolate factory and out on a steam train ride. I had to take a week off my job for it and I didnt get paid a penny but I loved it! Another time I raised $1000 and went as a 'volunteer' to Lourdes for a week. Lourdes is a holy place in France and people go there from all over the world hoping that their illnesses will be healed. I spent the week pushing wheel chairs and caring for sick people but I still really enjoyed it. The best part for me was really early in the mornings I would get up and because it was summer and really hot, I would go out to the grotto where Bernadette saw Mary and it was really moving to see all the people at that time in the morning quietly singing or praying. It was a nice experience. I hate giving money to charities, I would far rather do physical things like that for people to make a difference.

I volunteer a lot. What I like to do MOST is to teach women how to enjoy themselves to the maximum. I also love guiding a couple so that they can have a LOT of pleasure together.
