How does PHP better than other web designing language..?

As i know that PHP is a very good programming language for web applications.. but what is the difference between PHP and other web designing languages.. Some person says that it is a very powerful tools for web development.. and also very very secure.. an it is not very very costly than other languages.. so i want to know how it is secure than other platforms..

I don’t know much about php. But have some basic knowledge about all the scripting languages.
So i think why php is better than other language, the answer is because this is capable almost equally and free. So this is used broadly as you can get it as opensource.
