What is your favorite kind of sword? Who makes it? Why do you like it? I want to know. I am a huge sword enthusiast. I have made a business out of selling swords and see alot of them. Personally I am quite partial to the Japanese Katana sword as it has the ability slice through things while retaining it's durability and it's low weight. I honestly believe that the Katana is the ideal weapon.

I know it isn't a sword, but I think the Gurkha Kukri is awesome. It is my favorite knife so far for its ability for its size. I even saw a video on cold steel where it out did a Katana for cutting ability. For my favorite sword, I would have to say it is the ancient spartans short sword, the one with the leaf shaped blade. It amazes me how great its cutting ability is for its size as well. I prefer a one handed sword, as you can have a shield or free arm to block. I don't know, I may be biased because it is used by the greatest warriors of all time though, that is also why I prefer it.

The Gurkha knife is a fine piece of work I don't blame you for liking it. It looks good at slicing as well as chopping which is rare in a knife. As for the spartan sword, it's a good blade. I can't blame you for liking it as it is very sturdy. I am just not a shield kind of guy, I like the idea of ending things with a single sword stroke which is a katana's main purpose. However as you said the Spartans were one of the greatest warrior groups of all times.

The Gurkha is a solid choice! I use to work in construction and also like to go hunting, the Gurkha speed of clearing branches and bushes are unrival. Or when you have to cut down a mid size tree branch and your chainsaw poop out on you, the Gurkha works!

I'm a sabre fencer, I like the sabre a lot because of its functionality and power. It's a weapon that can both slash and stab, the curve blade let you throw shot around your opponent (straight) blade, it has the best guard that can be used offensively, a very versatile weapon! I also like the Chinese gim and Swept-hill rapier because of their elegance, they're also quite fun to play with, but not as much as a sabre!
