What would you do to fix the oil spill?

Seems like there have got to be better ways to plug the oil leak than shooting a bunch of tires and golf balls into the pipeline. I realize that the leak is a mile and a half underwater, but if we can figure out how to make mini-computers that are implanted in your head and can be controlled by thoughts, why can't they figure out how to plug an oil leak? I don't have any bright ideas myself, but then again, I haven't been contracted by BP and paid hundreds of thousands of dollars to try and figure ways to stop this thing.
Also... a side question, I guess... what is this going to do to our water supply? We don't all depend on drinking water or water for other use that is filtered from the sea, but others do.

there is really not much they can do for now. i mean there are many ways they could clean up the spill immediately if they have no regard for the wildlife. i am only wondering why they havent produced a bacteria that can eat the oil, so in times of a crisis like this, they can employ the bioengineered bio-safe bacteria and it can do away with the oil in the water while at the same time cleaning the creatures and not disrupting the balance of aquatic wildlife. if only i could find a way to produce these thoughts to the chemical companies...they should have figured it out for themselves by now though

"Maybe we should plug the oil up by doing the topkill procedure" Oh Wait, it Failed!! BP already tried the cement and mud procedure. What did we get? We got failure. BP tried the big rectangular chamber, but ice crystals formed inside the chamber. BP tried breaking up the oil, but we got chemicals that could destroy the aquatic food chain.
Speaking of the aquatic food chain, there are many animals that depend on the producers to keep surviving. First are the plankton, next comes the shrimp, third comes the fish, then the big fish, then us (humans). So we need to preserve the aquatic food chain, or else every animal on the planet that depend on the fish, including us, would not survive.
BP needs to stop drilling oil into the gulf. It's fine if we drill oil in the ocean, but it has to be a flawless and well-inspected procedure. It also has to be a well-maintained oil rig. No oil spill should happen in the middle of the ocean, not even a disaster like the Deepwater Horizon oil spill.
I don't have any ideas to cap or redirect the oil to a pipe. Anyone who makes an idea on how to stop the oil spill on the internet will be so famous that they won't know what's coming. Just think, millions of dollars, fame, fortune!

The first mistake was putting the fire out. I am not sure how long it could have burned before the riser pipe would have been destroyed, but it would have probably lasted a few days.
The Top Kill was a good idea but the well is flowing at 16,000 PSI, very tough to oversome those types of rates and pressures.
The ulimate solution will be a second BOP stack and the relief wells to kill the well. Unfortunately the relief well is the longest solution to implement. Now that the pipe is sheared I don't know why they haven't added the second stack.
