what do you prefer?..light on or turn off while sleeping?..i have a friend that tend to sleep with ligth turned on while sleeping in her own bedroom, after 2-3 years of that habit her eyes turn red and always watery, and as i remember it took almost 5 years to recover.one of the tips is to look at green colour in the early morning in whithin 5-10 minutes...

Usually, I switch all lights off at night when I go to sleep. But when I pass a night outside home, so I leave a small light on (for example: in the bathroom). That's because I usually wake up once or twice at night and sometimes, when I am asleep, it's difficult to remember where you are.

Same here. Most of the lights are usually turned off when everyone is asleep. But, there is one light in the hallway that stays on at night if we need to go to the bathroom or something that is across the hall. It's good to have a little bit of a light illuminating part of the house at night, as long as it isn't directly in my eyes.

StephanieAnnc ; that's true, a small amount of light that not directly hit my eyes will make me comfortable when i sleep.i usually be ready with my handphone as a torch when im awake...take care both of you...

adequee oh I cannot sleep with lights on ever and the room must be
quiet and darkened too. I keep getting woke up when the caregiver wakes my roomie to give her her medications in the wee hours of the night.grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. they yell at her and turn on alight and smack I am awakened again and again. My roomie is really very deaf and she does not always wear her hearing aid either.that cannot be good for your friend to have her eyes get like that.

I can not sleep with any type of lights on. It is such a distraction. Complete darkness for me. I have a daughter who is 29 years old and needs a nightlight on. Its the funniest thing. Complete darkness and complete silence is all I want when I'm trying to sleep.

From the time that I was a very young girl, I've only been able to sleep at night when the lights were off. The reason for this is that I think it is easier for us to shut our minds off when we don't have the light that is making us think in ways that we wouldn't do when sleeping in a dark room. When I was in college I had a difficult time sleeping because my roommates kept schedules that were different from my own and they had lights on late into the night.

my granny sleep with her light on..it seemed that it is not because she is afraid but she didn't really like to sleep in dark..it wouldn't be a problem if she try but she didn't like it that much..and she also sleep with her radio on almost the whole night..even i can't sleep soundly if i sleep with her..hehe..but i do think that we should sleep with our light off..so that we will be full relax and have a good night sleep..don't you think so??

I agree. I think sleeping with the lights off is a good idea. It saves power anyway. I mean, you're not trying to work wh8ile you're asleep, so why do the lights need to be on? I understand having a small light in the hallway so you can see when you get up in the middle of the night if you're sick or hungry or have to use the bathroom though.

Hi, adequee. I usually will sleep with the lights turned off. When I was a teenager, I used to be really scared of all of the strange noises that I have heard. So, I used to keep the light and the T.V. on at night. My grandma used to "spoil it" for me by turning these things off when she woke up to discover them on.

Sleeping with the lights on is one of the most stupid things I ever heard of. They say to sleep with the lights on so BoogieMan won't come out of your bed and get you. I personally can't sleep if I have lights on and if I do when I wake up I get a headache and feel dizzy.

When i was a child, I couldn't sleep unless the light was on. When i finally fell asleep, my parents would turn off my light. Now that I am older, I have outgrown most of my childhood fears. Every once in a while, a memory creeps back to haunt me. I like to have a nightlight in my bathroom. It gives me the sense of security I need.

I can't sleep with any amount of light on although as a kid, I did have a night light :) While the reason for people sleeping with the lights on are more varied than the common "I'm scared of the dark," it's really a habit that can easily be done away with! There is one thing I can't do without when I try to get some sleep: The slow hum of my electric fan :D

i used to sleep with lights on... i usually get nightmares when all lights are off...
i remember my friend passed by in our house and when she saw the the lights in my room was on, she concluded that i was already sleeping...
one time, i was with my sister and the lights are off... i had a nightmare, lucky my sister heard my moans and woke me up on time... she turned on the light and suggested that we wont turn off the lights again...
anyway, lately ive learned to sleep with just the night light on... good thing to start...

I sleep with the lights off most of the time. Though I like to have a light on until I know I'm literally about to sleep as I dont like tossing and turning trying to sleep whilst staring in to the dark. For a long time I always used to fall asleep to the tv in my room because it was strangely comforting and use the timer so it couldnt wake me up in the middle of the night. When I met my partner he made me switch off the tv as he hates anything like that while hes trying to sleep. However, I find when I'm alone I will happily fall asleep with a bed side lamp or something on just because I am a little scared I might see a ghost or zombies might come after me. I never worry about anything sensible just the weird things lol!

I would prefer total darkness as the light will make me restless and I might awake in the middle of the night. But I don't feel secure enough to turn off all the lights. Something might happen like thing fell down or anything and I need to get up and check it. So I turn on night lamp that's bright enough to make sure I stumble into something just in case I need to get out from bed.
