One-year-old ‘pregnant’ with twins

The article is confusing. First it says that the child is pregnant with "twins' then it says there is only one baby, her twin brother. Then it says that the she is 'pregnant' with a baby in her womb and then it quotes a doctor saying the baby is NOT in her womb and "found another place to grow." Seems to be a mixed up story. I think it may be a hoax. I have never heard of such a thing, though I suppose there could be something actually going on that's strange- the human body is capable of all kinds of oddities. Yet, after reading the article, I think its either a hoax or the writer of the article did a very bad job explaining things.

AjaySinghBaghel, As the saying goes: "Anything could have happened..." and so it is, even if the odds is as rare as 1:500,000. My concern here is that this toddler is in the rural area of China where medical expertise and facilities are at its primal level. I just hope that the doctors there will find a way out before the fetuses (twins) start to endanger everyone including the mother here. This is rare but really bizarre at the same time. I just hope that everyone will be alright at the end of the day.

The news seems not credible for me to believe. It is really impossible to nurture a child inside a womb of another child. I don't even get the logic of this and why would God allow this to happen that a child will suffer to bear another child? It looks like a tumor rather than being pregnant. It was a hoax news and most of this I often read to give you mind boggling entertainment. What I know of is a child will not be able to get pregnant because the egg cell is not present. It will only be present once she got her menstruation and during that cycle, she is preparing her body to conceive. So how can someone conceive if the egg cell was not available together with a sperm cell to unite the egg, think of it!

This is not the first time I have heard of this. Its very rare but not unbelievable. Anything is possible when it comes to life itself and the things that can happen. Especially within the womb of a mom to be. I just hope and pray the baby will be ok after surgery and she leads a love and healthy life.

This has got to be one of the most bizare items i haf come across,! Article states that it is 1 in 500,000,yet this is the 1st time i have come across something like this,pray the caesarian will go well,and outcome is a good one,wud be so great if we can know of the development,i for one will b very interested to know how the unborn twin turns out 6 months or a year from now.

Wow... I have heard of this before, but it is still shocking to hear of another, I hope that all goes well for them. Having a 15 month old myself really makes me wonder how the parents must be feeling about the whole situation it must seem so unreal to them.

hi AjaySinghBaghel what an amazing story and it is indeed most rare. Many years back when I was a little girl my dad, who was the town doctor, operated on this middle aged woman for a large tumor at the base of her spine. to his utter amazed inside this tumor thing was a set of baby teeth,just barely formed. My dad had the idea that it might have been a remnant from a twin birth that went wrong before the woman herself as a newborn was delivered. We all wondered how could she go for so many years carrying that set of baby teeth in this tumor and not have gone for help?the American Medical Society wrote a paper on that but still they did not really know just what went wrong that a tiny newborn baby wou ld have a tumor with baby teeth in it and on her baby spine.

wow! this is really rare. i wish for the success of the operation. soon enough little baby brother will join us in this beautiful world.

This is unbelievable. Are you sure you have the right stat there, 1/500,000 is actually fairly huge if you take into account how many babies are born everyday. For instance, in my country there are 60million people, so you're telling me that 120 people were in this situation?

I've read something similar to this about 5 year Lina Medina. They kept referring to her as the child's mother though.

Wow, that is interesting. I think I found something similar to that in another story except that it was a grown man. It was very interesting. What I wonder though, is the baby healthy and why do they need to give her a cesearan instead they should just put the baby to sleep and remove the baby. It would definitely be a miracle if the baby survived in the little ones belly. I wonder how they couldn't notice that when the little was born or whatever. Thanks for the interesting information.

I seem to recall hearing of a similar case many years ago. It is just amazing some of the things that happen in nature.

Wow... i never heard that one before. Usually on news there's programs about teenage pregnancy but i never heard of a 1 year old pregnant. Even more surprising is that it was twins. Nothing more than being real shocked.

Wow.. that's just nuts! Hmm... but I guess it would be okay because she's still one year old. I think that would be devastating if she could remember these things. I think she could still live a good life and I hope the brother is going to be fine as well. God bless them both and their family.

You just never know what to expect next. I had heard of and eight year old before. Things just keep pushing the limits lol.

Poor baby! Is this some case of a hidden "twin" that were "swallowed" into the other twin belly, and only been found out after a year?

For me this is a very sad news because how can a baby resist a Cesarean. Even with that, I think this one year old baby looks older in that picture. The link isn't working---and this seems to be extra ordinary case.Wooow first i thought how come one year old girl can become pregnant---it must be quiet hard for her to go through this operation---Is there any chance for those twins to make it?hope they survive.

I was shocked by this news. That's terrible for the one-year-old girl. But how can such a little girl concieve? She hasn't matured, can't produce ovums. spermatozoa don't have change to get in her body. I can't find canonical news about this in Chinese sites, I hope it's just a joke and the picture is a PSed one. God bless the little girl!
