How do you deal with your old things?

Recent days I am obsessed with selling old things... mmm... things I will no longer need them. I can get some extra money through this way. The things give their last value to me. So this discussion appears, How do you deal with your useless things? Just throw them away? or try to sell them? or try to make a reusing?

A few years back I decided to put a lot of my old stuff on e-bay and see if I could sell them. I had quite a pleasant surprise as the bidding went quite high. I only started them at a few pennies, but more people were interested in buying them than I thought and I made quite a bit of money out of stuff I would otherwise have thrown away. I will have to have another look shortly, as I seem to be building up a lot more surplus stuff that I no longer want. _Derek

Yes, I sold some stuff on eBay too that went quite well. I had a collection of Misty comics from the 1980s and they sold very well, some issues up to £15 each! So that was a nice bonus and I didn't want them anymore either.

I would like to try and sell them but most of my old stuff really is junk. My old clothes I usually give to the other girls in my village and a freind of mine takes my childrens old clothes down to a charity shop where she lives.

Sometimes I try to sell some of my old things for instanse my old books. I have sold some of my nursing books online, and it was pretty easy to sell them. I also tried to sell some of my books from university, but they were a lot harder to sell. I didn't manage to sell them online, but a second hand book shop in my local area bought some of them, and the rest I donated to charity. When I have things that I don't use anymore like clothes, cds or books I usually ask my family or my friends if they want some the things, and the rest of the things I sell or donate to charity.

Selling for bargain could be of great help. I have tried selling my old things, and it gives extra money as well. It can also be enjoyable, esp with clothes and small things. But,if my relatives wants to have some old things,i would be grateful to give it to them free. I also try donating toys for kids during x-mas season, where food chains put a large box for toys donation.

My old stuff if my cousins like it, they can have it. If its no longer usable I will throw it. Then if I think someone can still used but it will not fit to any of my relatives I will sell it and if it will not sold I will donate it to any of the orphanage.

Occasionally we have a garage sale, but usually we donate it to a local church that gives these items to those that come to them, one day a week. Although old jeans, i make open seamed quilts. Stained t-shirts i cut into strips and make braided rugs from them.

I've recently started selling some things on Craigs List. Other things I put into consignment or donate them. If they are truly useless or in poor shape then I just discard them. Some old clothes can be recycled and used for rags but others really should just go in the trash.

qianyun6 As right now I do not have anything thats old and useless, as what I have in my room here at Gold Crest is just the things I need I am not selling anything, but I have some old things never worn and I just take them down to the activity room and always someone here can use them. any way they are only there for say a half hour and people have already picked out what they wanted. this way my old tops can help someone else who needs clothes. They are still useable just that I no longer want them for myself.

Depending on what it is I will give it to someone that can use it. However, we usually have garage sells to get rid of old things and make a little money doing it. In fact, we are planning a garage sell this weekend trying to get rid of junk because we hope our house will sell soon and we don't want to take everything with us since we are moving faraway.

If only I was a better sales person, I have lots of junk that someone with the skill to sell could get money from.

Usually I give my cousin my used clothes for free. He is a farmer and he can use my used clothes work in the farm yield. I never thought to sold my used stuff. Often I just throw them away.

Just like you, I prefer selling old but still usable things I have inside my home so that I can get additional cash. They are not much though but a plus is still a plus. For old and broken things, I try to sell them through a junk shop since you never know if certain metals are worth buying by them. If they won't buy my useless and broken junks, I either throw them (if its dirty and unusable) or donate them to church or charity. Before you discard anything, make sure that you have exhausted its usefulness and saleability. This is one way for you to get some earnings from what is no longer useful.

I got some old clothing which I no longer need them, or they are no longer fit me. Me and my mom last month collect them in a box, and a big plastic bag, and we donate them to the salvation army. Hopefully, there will be some people in need of them. For those old electronic, I still need to figure out a way to get rid of them. Some of them no longer operating, and they are totally trash to me. I just wonder if someone can fix them, and recycle them again.

I deal with my things that I am no longer using it but still can be used by others simply by donating it. Once in a while we clean up our closet, shoe racks and cabinets to check on our things. And we segregate those that we really use to those that we almost not using or even already loss in our memory that we have them. So that we could have a space to the new things will be buying and at the same time we help others.

I am not good in selling my old stuff, I love to give them to my relatives who really need most. Or even to people whom I don't know. Just like my clothes, I will pack them and give it to the less fortunate.

Old clothes, bags and shoes are sorted out each end of the year and are being given to our neighbors and relatives who would like them. Old appliances which does not work are collected for the junk shop, those that are working are still kept at home. All other old things, we usually sell them to the junk shop if they accept it, if not, we usually just leave it there if they would allow it.

We have done the same things too before graduated,we sold our old books and then went to a restaurant to have a wonderful meal. Now I have met a new question,my family have a lot of old clothes and I have given to relatives the fitted ones, but there still very much.I have seen many reports that people are very poor in the remote villages. All the clothes I have washed clean and can wear for many years,I want to give them but I cannot find a way to do this.

It depends what they are. I give a lot away to the local charity shop or to friends or people on Freecycle. I do sell some things on eBay, if I think they have a value. I have regretted selling some of my things over the years though, so I try to be a bit more careful nowadays and make sure the item doesn't have a sentimental value first.

Temporary we just dump all the stuffs in some garage room we have.Basiacally the things get molded and rust. Some are broken stuffs too expensive to fix and cheaper to buy them again.I guess it the china industry where things are sell cheap but easy broken and buy again.Certain things can reuse we use.look those old textbooks i will tear them to made scrap paper for pets and drolling also.

i usually donate my old things if i'm sure that i will not use it anymore. like bags, clothes, shoes, books, and appliances. many people want to have a lots of things in life especially the poor. their biggest problem is poverty so i give some clothes to them and some things that they want. giving this kind of things will make them happy and at the same time you will feel happy because you help a lot of people and you give them chance to see things that they can never had.
