Why do you read and what times of the day do you like to read? For those who are avid readers, is reading for pleasure, information or both?

I usually download e-books into my phone so that I can read it whenever I have some free time since right now I find it hard to set aside time that is just for reading books. I read for entertainment mostly and I feel that it transports me to other worlds and times. I have a friend who usually recommends good reads too. I don't really read with the goal of learning but if I pick up a thing or two then I just take that as a bonus.

Since high school i was a bookworm. I read all the series of HARDY BOYS and NANCY DREW. When i went to the university, i was obssessed of the works of Sydney Sheildon and Danielle Steel..which is until now... Since i am teaching online, it is my self requirement to read at least a book a month. Currently I am ready a novel of Danielle Stee....

I read for the fun of it. It's my stress reliever and my escape. I typically read high fantasy fiction. I like getting wrapped up in new worlds, and discovering new epic quests. I'm also really interested in anything that has to do with mythology and mythical creatures. I do read to learn, and willingly! But when I'm looking for an escape I go to my high fantasy novels.

I tend to do most of my reading during the night time to be honest with you. That is about the time where I can settle down without any distractions and get some serious reading done. Plus, it helps relax me a bit before my bed. It is a simple way to allow me to wind down. If I did anything else, I might have some trouble getting to sleep. So reading is the best thing for me. As for why I do it, its mostly for pleasure. I do look up things for information when I need it. However, mostly, reading is fun. It is truly a hobby and in many ways, keeps my mind sharp. It is a way to spend my spare time. I rarely read any books that I think I might not enjoy. I also go out of my way to avoid learning anything. That's what school is for. Reading on my time is for pleasure.

I read to learn, but I enjoy all types of books so I would say both. As far as the timing I read whenever time permits. It is usually at night after the kids are in bed.

Both, but mainly pleasure. Even when I want to find information, it's because I enjoy finding out about things. Reading is fun. That's why I do it a lot. (It always confuses me that in discussions about why people should read more, being fun is not the first thing readers say to entice non readers.) As for when, whenever the mood hits me and I don't have something else that needs to be done. I don't have any set times for reading. Daytime, nighttime, mealtimes - any free time unless I'm doing something else during that free time.

The main reason for my reading is to gain knowledge. Authors write books to tell readers something, their thoughts, their views, or some other things. I like reading, especially for masterpieces. Reading enriches my life, and I think it's this habbit that makes the civilization goes on. Usually, I read before I go to sleep.

I always like to read before sleeping because I like falling asleep with my book on my hands. Weird, right? Anyways, I enjoyed any type of story books as long as it is written in a conversational manner. I don't like to read books that are too difficult to read like having too small fonts and lots of highfaluting words.

If it's about reading books, I like reading them during daylight because it's the best way to read and not damage your eyes. If it's about reading articles, news, e-mails ... I read them at any time of the day. I read because I like to keep informed and at the same time I share with my friends all the stuff I read about.

Well... I read both for information and pleasure. It depends actually. When I want to know recent issues about different topics, then I read magazines or newspapers to get some information. But when I want to have pleasure in reading, then I just read some articles that are within my interests.
