Of course students should not be classified by the marks. However, this is the fact today. It is the fail of today's education. Students have heavy study pressure and their goals are high marks only. Everybody has his/her own talents, marks can't tell everything. I love China

i have two answer.. these are YES and No Yes i agree if the students are classified in diferent level class , the lower class will always try to get better class. so it will be a motivation for student to get better... No, because if the smart and rather smart students are separated, they cant completre each other. if one student in low clas cant do a thing, it can be sure that most of them cant do that.. but if if all of students are mixed, they can complete each otger if one of them cant do or dont understand about the subject

I absolutely think that students should NOT be classified by mark or by their level of intelligence. It is just like in the economic system that the rich becomes richer, the poor becomes poorer. The first class (the better class) excels and the lower class will either improve a bit or maintain their status as "the lower class". It is because when you mix a group of students who are academically good or excellent, the probability is high for them to compete against each other. In order for one to be better than the other, he/she needs to step up to get a higher grade than the others. By the end of the school year, the better class remains the same way because of how motivated the students are. Unlike the lower class who is a group of students with an average of below average IQ. Since some of them are not that motivated to excel, then it will come to affect the level of studying of other students in the class about whether they should study harder or not, whether they should just chill, hang around and do what the others do instead of motivating themselves to study even harder. A long explanation but I hope you get my point. I really think mixing the better class and lower class students with each other is better to improve students' academic marks than classifying them.

Hmmm.. If you were put in the known 'worst class' would you strive to be better or would it de-motivate you into doing nothing about it? I think if I were in that position, it would demean me and prove that I indeed am slow as compared to most of the population. As an educator, our role is to help and guide these students into performing better. We have to treat each one of them fairly. Thus, classifying students in that way is a strict no-no. On the other hand, there would be problems in learning when students are mixed together. Some would feel bored because the class is slow while others would feel left behind. I think what's important here is 'who knows'. If everyone knows that you are part of the lowest group, then you could be treated as 'dumb'. But if nobody knows how students are classified, then it's up to the teacher and the administration to know. Thus, students wouldn't find ways to ridicule a particular group or student. Our primary and secondary school is like that here in our country (well in our area or school). It was nice to not be branded as 'slow' or 'intelligent'. Nobody knows for sure what group you belong to, until you get your grades in the end and honors are given out. I think it's better that way really. Now, in the school I am working with. They do things differently. Topnotch students are put in the first section or Section A, and the succeeding sections classify students from the greatest to the least mark. It's tough to teach on the sections after Section C because they already feel that they're not going to graduate or pass the subject. On the other hand, competition is stiff for the classes in Section A through B. It's nuts really. But that's the school's policy. But if I could choose, I'd rather that only the Admin and the teachers know how the classifications are being done. It would be simplier that way.

My school was such. In 10th the students are put into classes according to their grades. Initially its hurting but later on each student can sense the reason behind it. The section which has below average students, the teachers take extra efforts and give them extra work to come up to the level. They are given extra attention. Students competing with their own levels do well. the students at the above average class is taught according to their level of understanding and also given extra tips. The average grade students also benefit this way. Finally when all compete at the board exams, almost all of the students fair well.

classification between students in terms of marks is not goos as per my opinion. but there should be aq classification between active students and nonactive students. because an active student is not only good in his studies but is good in his all round performance and those all rounders have to be classified and try to make all the students all rounders is a better think,in my opinion

Well I dont think so that I would like to approve this kind of action because by this students will be consider worse kids and they always feel that they are bad and those who are good and they feel proud of this and may have the thought of that these worse students are good for nothing kind of...and many more.
