'They' have been at it again!!
the 'they' I refer to are these endless amount of researchers who keep coming up with weird and wonderful facts of things that are good for us or bad for us; how would we survive without 'them'
The latest research that has been undertaken at Kingston University tells us that by not making your bed in the morning may actually help keep you healthy!!
Why?
The researchers say that the average bed can be home to up to 1.5 million house dust mites , they have also found that these bugs cannot survive in the warm, dry conditions that are found in an unmade bed!!!
So you are all now allowed to have scruffy looking beds and no bugs!!

Mostly I do not make the bed, as hubby is usually still in it. It is so humid that my unmade bed will not feel very warm and dry. There are so many contradictory theories about how things make us sick or keep us healthy that it is a wonder we do not all go absolutely crazy.

I make my bed every morning. And I will continue to make it every morning because I can't stand for the bed to be unmade. I cannot come in and lay down in a bed that has been unmade all day long...it just bothers me. I wash my sheets every week and even vacuum my mattress every week so maybe that helps get rid of the dust mites.

yes, leave it up to the researchers. They have conflicting reports too. Which ones are we to believe?
I believe dust mites are less worrisome than BEDBUGS. Bedbugs love you discarded skin cells as well as the ones your still using. Bedbugs are more dreaded. I say make you bed. The little bugger leave scars.

Yeah! An excuse not to make the bed! I hate to do it and I don't do a very good job of it, now I have an excuse not to try. I hope they come up with studies about a lot of other household chores being unhealthy!
I read the other responses and I agree with the one that said (I forget who wrote it) if your immune system is normal you wouldn't get sick anyway.

LOL
Well that just sounds crazy doesn't it, but maybe they have a point! I have to say during the week, I do not make a habit of making my bed, I don't leave it scruffy though, I just kind of pull the covers up a bit, so it looks better rather than having them hanging down more on one side. Normally I am in too much of a hurry during the weekdays, getting the kids up and ready, the one time my bed does look like it is actually made properly is when I change the covers, how bad am I! LOL. Oh well at least now I know that I am going to be healthy with my bed making routines... You got to laugh at some of the things that these people come up with, it does make me wonder what else they will come up with next lol

I knew that there was a good reason why I never ever make the bed in the morning - I just deal with it just before I go to bed at night. But since I usually have two or three cats sleeping on the bed as well, dust mites are probably the least of the wildlife that might be expected! Oh, and I'm very rarely ill so I guess that I'm living proof that they are right!

As an adult, I never made my bed. I find it a stupid tradition that serves absolutely no purpose whatsoever, except to give something for your mother to yell at when you were a child. When you go to bed, just find your sheet (and blankets if winter) and start snoring.
Lately I've been finding ants crawling in the bed with me. At least they are not biting me.

What? I'm not sold, I think that's bogus. Aren't bugs supposed to thrive in a warm atmosphere? I mean, they're all around over the summer! An unmade bed is unsettling I think. My bed may be devoid of bugs but the stress of seeing an unmade bed will surely get to me. I fear stress more than bugs.

IF YOU could wait for a reasonable time, you will find a similar research ... from a similarly named, Queenston University, ... who would tell you quite the opposite.
Like, making your own bed, cures you of your back-ache! ... and, about the dust mites, and the bed-bugs... don't you worry. As long as you are healthy... and your body-resistance is normal, you will not get any allergies nor diseases.
... All said, these days, making the bed is my wife's duty.. so, I am healthy any how!

she is healthy .. though making the bed herself.. because, if I were to do the beds, she would start nagging! .. and so, both of us will get sick.
anyhow.. are there no ready made beds? .. which need not be made every night?

The research some Universities do is kind of absurd. Most the time they dont test things long enough or do research on board enough areas to get real results. Then when they lengthen their studies they fnd that they were wrong with their initial studies. Half the time I dont even make my bed. When you think about it while you sleep at night and dampen the sheets with light sweating if you make the bed as soon as you get up your sheets dont have time to air out and dry. Still even knowing that most the time I try to make my bed because it looks tidy.

.....Hi there oldchem1, I just love it, I knew I was on to something when I stopped making my bed up in the morning. It made no sense to me to make up a bed to just get back in it at night and mess it up again. So now we know, that's funny as all get out. Be healthy, don't make your bed. well I'll be darn. Thanks for the heads up. I was a pioneer before my time "o). Take care, be healthy.

haha really, interesting stuff. I would have thought that a 'made' bed would be warmer though. And wouldn't either be just as 'dry'. Sounds a bit iffy to me, but any excuse not to make my bed lol :)
