what is the diffrence between LCD monitor and Plasma monitor

i don't know what's the difference between LCD and Plasma monitor, let me explain

usually plasma monitor use plasma gas to generate resul(image or picture)and lcd monotor use crystals to generate images..lcd have higher contrast ration which generates high performance...

what my friends said are correct and the difference between these two are the LCD itself says it liquid crystal display.... and plasma refers to a gas....
according to power consumption i prefer LCD
