Since her Excellency Gloria Macapagal Arroyo is stepping down this end of june. I would like to get the feedback of our community as to her term in office.
Speaking for myself I shall give her a passing grade. Though i absolutely abhor her MOA, Corruption Scandals, and Machiavellian Politics. I am still inclined to give her a passing grade for being able to get the Philippines relatively unscathed from the Global Recession. Also because during her term my Province of Negros Oriental relatively got a gud chunks of budget from the national government.

Hello Cyrus,
I believe despite of GMA's transactional and Track record, she was able to turn things around in this economy, most specially during the eve of financial crisis, which prevented and save us from loosing more jobs. for the rating i believe i can still go for nine, people are more into negative issues but they didn't see the good things that she did. the only thing i hated her about is her way into avoiding issues and yet running again for another lower position.

people like the see bad news than good news. that's why NBN likes to put the good news instead of the bad ones.

i will give her 5, not only her but all presidents in the past. she has done a good job as anybody else. there were good projects and bad ones too. in politics, greed and corruption are always present and that's the reason why i cannot give more than that rating.

Well if only she has answered all the allegations against her and not mentioning the midnight appointees she made, I would give her more than passing grade. Weighing the goodness she has done against the negative feedback I put her on 6 being 10 the highest. She was indeed good in tying to make the country afloat during the times when US was having their financial crisis. For the calamities that hit us was pretty okay for me how they handled things. And the infrastructure they made in her administration, although I do not agree that all of those that she showed on TV are hers. The LRT 2 is not in her administration and some roads and highways were not her project. The only reason why she has outperformed her predecessors was because she was able to stay longer in her term she enjoyed the last 3 years of President Estrada's term and the full 6 year term when she decided to ran again as President.

yes. But her legacy will always remain in her fiscal management of our country in being able to weather the global financial crisis that is plaguing the United States and Europe. That for me is an accomplishment. considering that we are only a 3rd world country.

I give her a 5/10 rating. My family was really personally affected in her administration in the sense that her corruption sent us into the red. In fairness, it started with Erap's inept government. Even though I have been working during her term, I experienced only slight economic improvement. My main problem was that whenever I had issues which I only the government could resolve, like SSS or the court system, there was so much corruption that at the end of the day, I would end up spending more than what I would get. Plus, she has Dato and Mikey as kids...need I say more?
I gave her a 5 because even in my biased mind, I acknowledge that she has done things that have long-term economic impact. Her BPOs and ROROs will make a significant impact on our economy. History will be kinder to GMA than I have been.

I give her an 8. She got good projects and somehow our economy was stable despite everything that had happened all over the world. She's corrupt though and our debt in the world bank tripled on her term...

I agree that our debt did triple during her term. But its not really her fault but the fault can be traced back to Marcos and Aquino.
Why? Marcos was responsible for our credit. Cory Aquino is to blame for taking on the responsibility 2 pay off Marcos debts when the rest of the 3rd world countries where asking for deferment of the payments. If only she asked that the Philippines be excused from paying questionable loans made during the Marcos Dictatorship we wouldn't be in this mess.

I would like to give her a passing grade of 7 because she has done a lot for the country but I am much disappointed with the men in her life (her husband and son) because they were the one who brought her name to shame.

I come from Negros Oriental, too. On a scale of one to ten--ten being the highest--I would give her eight. I believe that she is really a good president. I have seen a lot of projects in our country. These projects were not seen by the people because the media focus on the issues thrown against her family and her administration. If only the media would be fair enough, I think the rating of our president would not be low. Our president was criticized very much because she is really good. Most of her critics are aiming for higher positions and personal benefits. The others are just supporting the critics because they have nothing to do with their lives. To be fair, I have noticed the scandals that our president, her family, and administrations were involved. If she would be proven guilty, then she would be punished up to the extent of the law. I am hoping the the people would realize how much efforts our president have given to improve our country and to uplift the status of living of her people. If we will keep on asking for benefits from the government without doing our share then for sure nothing would happen to us. Have a blessed day!

I can give her a rate of 6.
I voted her last 2004 election believing that she is not corrupt but no other than her husband and other people that surrounds her. But after a few years of her service, I admit that I had a wrong belief. She did nothing but for herself and family. But of course, she also did some good deeds but because she had to cover anomalies that involved her.

GMA is a hardworking, brave and intelligent President. It is only the people behind her that pulls her down. Whether the scandals are true or not, I will still give her a rate of 8 out of 10 because she was able to save the Philippine economy amidst of the global recession. Only few leaders can maintain and improve the national economy that was destroyed by the former administration. It is also very difficult to find a non-corrupt President. So whether she's corrupt or not, what matters most is the result of her administration. And I think it is "a little bit satisfactory" compared to the former administration.
