Why did he let her?

OK so I put up a post a few minutes ago about my 4 yr old making cards for Daddy with the dog. She was making hand prints and decided to "help" him making puppy prints. He was completly covered in paint. Now I am glad he is a good dog who will let the kids do anything and I do not have to worry about nipping or biting, but for goodness sakes why would the dog sit there and let her paint his paws four different colors and add sparkles none to mind he did let her make prints of his paws on paper, good ones at that which means he didn't fight her at all. He hates by the way having his paws touched and gives me a hard time when ever i dry them off when he comes in wet and we need to have him sedated to cut his nails (at the vet of coarse) yet he let her paint on them! Why would he let her do that and not just run away? This though crossed my mind as I was tagging my other post.

Maybe the dog likes her a lot and dog are usually very good though when the person is good to him/her, my cat let me paint his nails too and he adores it, he knows not to walk just after because it might get off the nail. So I believe animals do have some of this traits.

This could depend on what kind of dog you have here. Also, dogs usually find kids about the size of 4-6 yr olds to be less threatening and less hurtful to them (not saying that you or anyone you know is this way with your dog). This is to say that he is more comfortable with someone he knows is not too powerful to do a lot of damage to him as well as the comfort he may get from spending time with your daughter. P.S. I loooove the fact that she made cards with the dog.

opinionatedLady hi The dog dearly loves your four year old so he trusts her explicitly and I think instinctively he knows she is young so he sort of takes care of her too,not doing anything to upset her or even hurt her a little bit. So he is her pal, and her protector too.Smart dog, he realizes she is still a puppy in his mind and he must be gentle with her,his young pal. lol lol lol.

Your dog loves her and has complete trust in her that she will not hurt him. I am sure you have tried to cut his hails and so he mistrusts you to touch his feet.

I think, like you said, that your dog is a very good dog, and on top of that, he feels safe and secure with your daughter, so he does not think that she would do something bad to hurt him. I think it is quite a lovely story! I am not sure that my dog would react as well, but I do not have kids, so I do not see it happening at my house either...
