hey friends...
Well, straight to the point:
I am so sleepy that I just want to sleep most of the time during the studying time!! the moment I start studying; the moment I start yawning and with some dropping tears that I can hardly focus on what i'm reading as I start seeing the words doubled!! however, things totally change the moment I switch to do something else that is far away of reading it is really irritating me out
By the way, I do drink caffeine to keep me awake..but it somehow doesn't seem to work!!
Please help me out

We usually get sleepy when studying, especially those who don't want to study because studying is really boring. I am like you when I was in college, I often times feel sleepy. So what I did was watch tv, so I will be awake then after an hour of watching tv and being so alive I study. Then after 10 minutes of studying I feel drowsy again. lol.
If you really want to stay awake when studying, I suggest that you eat a teaspoon of coffee powder, make sure it is caffeinated. It will surely work.

hello my sugar,,
i'm always getting sleepy when i'm studying, but i just kept in my mind that i really have to study for my better future.i know it's hard to focus for you cause you have lots of thoughts in mind,my friend! when you study, try to clear your mind from worries, cause worries will make it harder for you to learn on what you are studying.
all you have to do is focus, as they said you can try cold water on your feet, coffee powder or listening to music,i love the chocolate thing,
but i haven't tried it.some of my friends also told me you can also eat peanuts to keep you awake,i wonder how true it is,i also found peanuts can also make you think better, but i really don't know if it is true. whatever it is,if you really are considering studying as important thing,go for it,you know what to do,my dear!
you just have to think if you like music, and you can mix it with studying,go for it!
remember,it's all in the mind, focus, focus, focus, that's all you need!
keep smiling,smiley sugar,,

hello to you too!!
yeah it is considered to be a very dramatic common situation bothering lots of people..these days as you know i'm getting literally crazy trying to finish up the assignment though i'm feeling sooooooooo sleepy that I wish to sleep the whole day instead of studying
As for the peanuts; yeah it does help but I don't like it that much although it does...

it's okay my sweet, sometimes i also suffer the same situations, but i just have to focus myself on studying cause it is what i have to do. it is also for my own benefit,so i better have to study and keep on telling to myself that i have to keep all these things in my mind. sometimes when laziness or sleepiness gets in the way, nothing will do it better to you when you didn't get yourself to study, who will you blame,it's just yourself,so better discipline yourself not to regret things in the future.
i like peanuts when i was just passing time.well, sometimes i do eat peanuts when waiting for jeep to come and to ride on. it is my way of telling myself, don't be bored or try to be little patient when it comes to waiting jeeps.

Drink loads of caffeine. I'm serious. Take 2 or 3 cups of coffee whenever your studying. I'm pretty sure that will wake you up. Drink the strong one. Also eat some sweets like chocolate or cake. Sugar rush also helps in keeping you awake.

you know smiley honestly you do not like what you are doing, it is because it always happen that you get to sleepy when doing it. Sleepiness is like feeling tired. There is no caffeine or anything that will keep you awake but to like what you are doing. You have to like what you are studying, because if you don't you do not have plans, you do not have a goal, you will not focus and the feeling of tiredness is next. Do you do study groups? or do study in a library? or at home it is more good if you study during dawn. I do not have tips in studying, and everytime I study too I feel i need to sleep and ignore studying. It is because I don't like it. But sometimes I like it, even I am very sleepy I can still be able to finish what I have to finish.

Yes it is really possible, because if you really like to study, although you are sleepy you will slap yourself and you will be awake. when you like to study but you feel sleep, you will stand up and jump just to waken up your nerve. Or just go to the place that you will not feel sleepy. Group study is the best, but for some they can effectively study alone. Which one do you prefer, because when you are alone and you are in your room, with a bed is showing you, you will really feel sleepy.

Hi Smiley83,
You just throw a very common problem of so many and I am also one of them. So, even I do welcome any solutions of this problem.
You are very sleepy but if leave the books to study then you won't be sleepy any more.

It is because you feel forced to study something you don't want to. So,you lack concentration and feel bored. A series of yawns follow and you feel sleepy. Is this happening when you are reading some story books? I bet no. So,you should develop some interest in studying and believe you are going to learn new things.

Hello Smiley83, I fear that you are not alone when it comes to reading or simply concentrating on studies. I have been giving this a lot of thought since the end of my Spring semester and the start of my Summer semester, which is now in its third week.
I don't know what to tell you at this point in time as far as a way to make things easier for you. However, I can tell you that I think that there are some things that can be done within the education establishment to make learning more fun and at the same time, increase the difficulty of the curriculum, have a higher success rate, as well as having a higher retention rate of students. I also think that for some students, there will be a noticeable rate of acceleration in learning, where there will be others who will stay at the same pace as is expected of them now, with the exception in that their retention levels will be much higher, so when they do go on to higher education they will have the ability to preform at that level. I also think that there will be a dramatic drop in the drop-out rate, and for the first time in history the illiteracy rate will drop below 20% world wide. That basically means that the only people who won't know how to read and write will be those who live where civilization has no business being, and the rest of the people in that statistic would either be too old, sick, or in some fashion just living on the edge of society, and for them that is a whole other problem that needs to be addressed. But for every person on this earth that wanted to have even the basic level of education, no matter what language or the culture, within a few months they could be at a first grade level and within a few years they could possibly be at a high school level, and probably know a minimum of two languages, if not more.
I realize it all seems like a fantasy or something out of a science fiction novel, but if you look at something as difficult as flying an airplane, and you put a kid in a video game simulator, not only will it be a matter of time before they learn how to take off and land the simulated plane, but they will have learned more in less time, doing something they loved to do, and best of all, they wouldn't even know they were being educated. For it's as much of a psychological trigger that sets us up not wanting to learn one thing, as it is wanting to learn another. It is also a matter of time. If you know it's going to take you 12 years of your life just to get a basic education and another four years to get one that really matters. Not to mention the four years of higher learning to get through Med school and another four years working as a resident before you can practice medicine without someone looking over your shoulder. What if you were told from a very early age that there was not set amount of time. In fact, what if time was taken out of the equation. Do we not already play games as children that teach us different things that will be invaluable later in life. Do we have to have computers to teach us how to read, write, and do arithmetic? No not really, but they can help, just as the printing press helped more people to learn how to read and write. And when you buy a video game, if you play, or a book to read for your self, do you buy the easiest game that is no challenge, or do you buy a childes book to entertain you. No you buy the hardest game and the book that will hold your interest, most likely something you would have never read in school, yet had you not read what you did, would you be able to read what you want to now.
Well I have a lot more to say but this is not the place to say it. I do hope that I have given reason for thought. I do plan on making a more formal presentation on my ideas for creating a better educational environment. I would therefore appreciate any suggestions or any positive criticism as to what I have said. The only way for an idea like this to have any merit is if it is critiqued by those for and against it. The more minds that look upon a problem the more likely it will be solved.
Also to Smiley83, drinking caffeine maybe working against you. You might want to cut back on the amount and the time in which you drink it. If you are going to school in the day then you should try and not drink or eat anything with caffeine within 6-8 hours before you go to sleep. Try drinking green tea and avoid sugar and chocolate. Eat a large breakfast if you can and a light lunch. You can have plenty of snacks in-between, especially fruit and vegetables, and certain nuts and seeds are good for you. It's best to read early and to take breaks in-between. If you have to read after your final meal, you are best not to go in your room and get peace and quiet because you are more likely to fall asleep. If there is a place you can go where you feel comfortable and can take breaks where you can walk around or even take some other reading material with you, like a magazine, and read back and forth. You'll be surprised how much you remember. You might want to try mixing things up, like taking a magazine one night and do some drawing the next, or even write a letter about what you are reading. The main thing is to spend more time reading your school work. One other suggestion would be to get a study group and have each member read aloud so much and then discus the subject amongst yourselves. You might find that if you study together you can work as a team in class in order to get the most out of your professor, which in turn may result in knowing better what will be on your exams and what is expected to receive the highest grade possible.
Good luck, and I hope you are doing well.

Awh no problem at all! I do have the same thoughts too regarding the educational sluggish movement...
As for the awakening supplements; I know caffeine is negative but I just can't find myself staying off the caffeine! It does makes my day though..
I hope you are getting better soon..we all have those disturbing moments that are preventing us from having great focus & it does trouble us too badly though..What I usually do is that, I keep on watching motivating programs and especially to know how would people or girls in my age are manageable to be successful and able to pass through any difficulties or any disturbing any negative emotions! It does help me in a way but of course the effectiveness doesn't stay longer as I need to keep on motivating myself regularly...
So, the same might work for you too... so many people do pass through that daily and it does affect our lives negatively..
Anyways, Good luck to you too & do keep me updated

awh thanks soooooooo much for the info...
As for the coffee part; yeah it does help as i remembered few times back was reading next to the window.I placed my study table near the window at night to study and the breeziness of the nightly air really helped me to stay awake studying..but, sometimes or most of the time gets cold at night that I had to close up the window..but, your message just reminded me of that...
regarding to the discussion group; it does help but not always as we usually set together for final exams and a little if we have assignments to work for..
As for the educational environment that you have just mentioned; I do agree with you very much..it should be like that..but sadly to say that, the majority of today's schools are still following the same stringent rules and regulations..it takes such a huge time to switch up the overall process! there are so many students who are very great at graphic designs, yet, they are not allowed to study the graphic designs in particular, but they have to rather study so many unrelated courses before drawing into the details!
that is true that we are wasting so many years just like that! If the education system changes the traditional focus; things would definitely start looking positively...
Again, thanks so much for the info dear...

Thank you for your response, I am glad to see that I am not the only one who sees a problem in the way we learn. As for drinking caffeine, I was just suggesting that it might be keeping you awake or more likely, causing you to not get the proper sleep you need the night before your classes. The same goes for your diet, as you may know, many students learn bad eating habits while attending higher education do to their mixed up schedules. I am guilty of that my self, but I also have physical and mental issues that I have to deal with that make things even harder. Imagine trying to go to school while taking morphine twice a day, plus meds for my bipolar disorder which all slow me down. And sometimes they don't even work as desired, so I either go through depressions, or I will have periods of mania where I lose focus on what I'm trying to do. Anyway, you are better off if you can use natural substances like vitamins, getting exercise, and maintaining a healthy diet. Don't get me wrong either, caffeine is not bad for you in general, but it is a powerful stimulant and can cause some people to not get enough REM sleep, which as you probably know is your bodies way of recharging its batteries, so to speak.
Good luck with school and keep me up-to-date on how things are going.

Books are good medicines for sleeping ?
When I was in school it was always me in the morning who will not wake up for the study whereas my big brother will always be before me. I used to study more in the evening time and he was a morning person so, we had an agreement to hide from grandfather. If I am sleeping in the morning he will take care of Grandfather (alert me if I am sleeping), if he is sleeping in the evening, I will take care and alert him before grandfather get to know about it.

actually, it feels so good to have someone studying with you at the same time and making plans on who's turn to take care and stuff like that!!
But I must admit that the textbooks are widely proven to be the best medicine ever sleeping I assure you
Anyways, thanks so much for sharing & have a great day..

Most of us experience this...If it is sleepy when I'm studying then I won't mind I will close my book and sleep well..I too drink tea or coffee sometimes.. I always study in night..It will be cool and silent..I will sleep well before I study for my exams and will sit in the night..I play music too..It will be a great feel at the night listening to melodious song and studying slowly..
So try to listen music and again you are sleepy then sleep well and study after you feel better..

That is true ,whenever I also did study in night, I always feel to sleepy , then on that time ,I first go to the washroom and splash some water on my face ,then soak the eyes in water for few seconds and it works as my eyes get cool and I start my studies back , as I never drink tea or coffee so for me it was difficult, but this actually work for little time then do that again.
