This is a shot of one of my cabbage plants from my garden this year. They are starting to roll into the cabbage balls finally as you can see. I usually just quarter the cabbage and boil it then have it with boiled spiced potatoes for a full meal. I also love making cabbage rolls with them as well. How do you prefer your cabbage made?

Same as you.. quartered and boiled, or as cabbage rolls. Though last time, instead of cabbage rolls, I made it into a casserole. I shredded the cabbage, put a layer on the bottom, then the meat and rice filling, then another layer of shredded cabbage on top. I think the kids liked it better that way.

As far as your casserole, did you add some cream of tomato soup
over the top as it neared being done cooking?

I have never tried cabbage rolls, but i can imagine they are like that greek dish, where they wrap the filling in vine leaves. i do like cabbage, but as a child i really hated it and never ate it until I got married. The only thing is i like my cabbage chopped really small and my husband doesnt. So what i have to do is cook it in large pieces, then when cooked, divide between me and him, then mine goes back in the saucepan for me to chop to my preference. I also like mine with brown sauce , he likes his with vinegar - a taste I never heard of until i met him. oh well each to their own taste I suppose.

Yeah they are basically the same.
The leaves are rolled with a mixture of white rice and ground beef or whatever meat one prefers.
I top mine with cream of tomato soup 10 minutes before they are done in the over.

I have a recipe called Runza casserole that I like shredded cabbage in. It is an easy version of a bierocks type dish. I like cabbage added to soup. I like sauerkraut as well and it is supposed to be really healthy. I just ate some good coleslaw, although cabbage is not really my favorite veggie.

Cabbages are one of my favorite vegetables. I like my cabbages pan-fried and served with beef. Your garden looks great Garden vegetables are great and so healthy for you. My grandfather also has a vegetable garden where he grows all sorts of greens and roots. They taste delicious sometimes and sometimes they taste weird but I know they are good for me. He doesn't grow any cabbages though but maybe next time I can buy him a package of seeds so he can grow some.

I've never had cabbage fried.
Sounds okay to me though.
I always buy plants as opposed to seeds.
For cabbage as well as peppers and tomatoes.

but this is making me hungry for homegrown food.Thereis one cook
here who makes the best coleslaw but they are so stingy dishing

I prefer to make my cabbage into cole slaw. I am actually going home toningt to hand grate 7lbs of cabbge and 1/2 pound of carrots to make my slaw. Everyone laughs at me in my family becuase they all want to have cole slaw like mine but have not figured out how to make it turn out like mine. I tell them it is an old family recipe. The bad thing is they know that is not true becuase no one in the family makes it this way except for me. But a little hard work make things taste a whole lot better. I know I could run it through my food processor but is sure wouldn't taste the same.

I like sauerkraut and I love coleslaw. Cabbage is great to bulk out a stir fry too.
I've never had cabbage rolls, they sound like there are many variations. If I have boiled cabbage, I slice it coarsely, cook it till it is almost tender then I drain it, sprinkle in some lemon juice and margerine and black pepper, then I put the lid on while it's all still hot and let it sit till I serve up the rest of the meal. It's lovely with mashed potato.
How do you do your spicy potatoes??

I tried cabbage rolls and didn't have any luck getting them into "rolls" but I did just cook it in the crock pot and that turned out ok.
With cabbage I love making corned beef and cabbage or apple slaw out of it.

Hey Grandpa Bob! I love cabbage! I either make it boiled and
then put some marjorine with a little salt and pepper in it and
have it with whatever I am making with dinner, which would
usually have a baked potato too! Or, I have an incredible recipe
from my family, who are Hungarian. We make Hungarian Stuffed
Cabbage! We spice up the meat with onion powder, garlic powder,
pepper and lots of paprika and rice (the key ingredient). We put
onions, tomato sauce (with spices) and roll up the meat with the
rice and put them into the pot with the tomato sauce and spices
and add some water and cook it for a few hours on a slow flame!
Adding lots of paprika is key because us Hungarians love paprika!
It comes out to be the best stuffed cabbage ever!

i love coleslaw but when i'm not feeling lazy, i steam stem then shred them slighty and use them as wrapper for barbecued meats, it's yummy. here where i'm from we have this dish called 'nilaga' meaning boiled, we throw in cabbages and bok choi with beef and potatoes, it's great for a rainy day. btw, i think you're sweet, Grandpa Bob!

Love your green thumb. I have been known to eat it raw right from the head. It is actually pretty sweet. After that, I like it boiled with a bit of salt & pepper, to go with my corned beef. It's almost dinner time here. Now I am hungry
