I spent a lot of time on youtube reading a debate about this segment where Oprah tells Larry King how important the secret is to her, and how she had prayed to God and even was singing an hymn to God when she got the part in the movie The color Purple, she even told the person who called her for an audition that she was praying for the color purple part but her conclusion was that when she actually got that part from that day forward she thought she had attracted her part in the movie and that's part of the secret, the law of attraction, but she forgot she was depending on God and her reaction was to pray, her actions were not to visualize herself in the movie, this created a lot of comments, my view is give honor to God when you pray to God and get what you wanted in that prayer. I do, I have miracles that have nothing to do with movies and I am grateful so here are my questions:
Was it so bad for Oprah to admit God listened to her and helped her get the movie part? Was it better for her to make it part of the new age theme law of attraction? And do we depend in God and show it?

Never mind the New Age baloney, the Old Age adage is still very true: Give credit where credit is due! If you pray to your God for something and you get it, praise God, not some law of attraction stuff. Maybe if you prayed to God for the ability to attract whatever it is you want to you then you could praise both God and the Secret
I heard the interview between King and Winfrey and my very first thought was "And Oprah thinks Tom Cruise is whacko??"

I agree with you Frank I do not know how she jump from praying to God and receiving a blessing to her atracting her movie part it is something that does not even make sense to me the secret is main stream since the 90s while it's truth that other self help books have talk about it before like think and grow rich b Napoleon Hill and Louise L Hay it is more out there with the book The Secret which is what she was talking about. I prefer to depend on God the law of atraction is nothing compared to God or otherwise I will nt be where I am today.

Hey Shelly! I don't know exactly what to say or how to respond
to this question. I believe that Oprah might have really prayed
to get this part because she really believed she was right for
it! After all she was incredible in it! She played it like her
life depended on it! She wasn't anywhere near where she is today!
So, what difference does it make how she got, but she did and
she played her heart out so why question it? I believe that
Oprah came up from a very bad place and showed the world that
someone can rise above to get what they really want if they truly
try! I give her so much credit for what she has done! And she
has paid back in many ways with the money she has earned! She is
a truly wonderful human being in every way! She made alot of money
which is true, but she has also given much of it back and I am
sure she is right with God and he is quite proud of her!

I agree with you, I just do not get her answer to Larry King, I believe she is a success and a kind woman, I just do not understand many of the things she is saying lately, I also remembered that she was not as close as to where she is now, a powerful woman, and sometimes when one is in a position of having that much power and money people tend not to give the best advice ever, they are more afraid of telling the person the truth, she could be in that situation as well, and I hope the best for her in the new enterprise

Hi ShelleyB, I pray to God daily and I believe that He knows best so if He thought the part was right for her so be it, however if you ahve ever seen Bruce Almighty you know not all prayer s can be answered to how we want them to be. I didn't see the show so cannot give further input here. Huggles. Ellie:D

The interview can be found on YouTube by writing Oprah and it will be on the list kinda right away it is sad to me that she declares she was praying but thinks she got herself the part. I am not sure when Oprah will decide she needs God again in her life we are not all of that you know and from what I read in other comments on other videos that law is much bigger than wanting things.
