i have not been on the lot for a while now, i have actually quit my crap job and been looking for a job in the mines, just as i start my little crusade good old ruddy (kevin rudd)((our prime minister)) decides that he'll put a tax on mining and all its glory! that has made my efforts a little harder, and some people are telling me that im going to find it difficult, i guess i want to hear from people that are either within the sector or from people that know people in there, or anyone from WA\perth\kalgoorlie (as that seems to be the best starting place in the whole country. is it true? am i going to find difficultly within my search efforts? because i want to throw everything on the line and move across the country just for a job. but i kinda need to know if its going to be worth it or not!

Good to see you back here Fezman. I know a guy who just lost his job at a mine in Kalgoorlie, I think it was, last week. I bumped into his wife and she told me. I will hopefully see him this Sunday and find out more details from him. I will let you know if I do. It certainly is a big risk to take if you are not going to get long term work. He lost his job apparently because he had a couple of drinks the night before his shift and blew over the limit when he clocked on in the morning. You are supposed to have a reading of zero and he registered something, so it was instant dismissal for him!

There is also a mine at Narrabri and I think a few others in the Hunter Region. I'd be contacting the Human Resource personnel from a few companies and speak to them about your chances and prospects. Good luck.

From what I have heard, the mines are still going strong even though KRudd is trying to kill it...I think I told you that my hubby used to work in the mines when we lived in Mackay...now that we are down on the Sunshilne Coast, he is going to go back up there hopefully in the next few weeks...One of our friends has a friend who drives the trucks, etc for building the mines & the MAC camps where the mine workers stay - in Moranbah...You shouldn't find it that hard especially if you have already done your SGS course...They are still building mines in Moranbah & Glendon.

Mining is a very dangerous job. Just be careful. Goodluck in your job.
