How do you manage to resist this heat?

It is June right now, one of the month within the summer season. I just to have to endure this heat from day to day. My father would want to save money from the rising cost of the energy bill, so he won't turn on the A/C. The only way I can cool off myself just through cold water shower; or through the fan in my room. But with 90 degrees out there, the fan won't help much either. Sometimes, I just couldn't take the heat anymore, I have to go to the public places, like community center or library to enjoy the A/C. How would you manage to resist such heat in summer time?

Here in our country, we just experience almost 3 months of total heat! Our electric consumption has been doubled, and to think that we have no A/C. I changed my work schedule. I requested for a morning shift, instead of me taking the night and sleeping during the day, it is hot during the day and easier to sleep during the nights. I also eat a lot of citrus fruits/juices and drinks lot of water.

For me, I drank a lot of juices and water lately too. Also, I bought a whole box of coke, and freeze them in the fridge. I had drank that a lot, even though it is not healthy.

Hi, swetashah. Your father will have to eventually turn the AC on. It is going to get more hotter as summer approaches. The fan just won't do. When I was living with my in laws, I used to go to the library so that I could relax in the cool air. And, I would drink a lot of icy water from my bottle. I am indoors right now. And I could not imagine myself being anywhere else. It is just too hot for me to go outdoors.

There you go, just go to the library, a book shop, a mall anywhere which has AC. I live in Indonesia, in the equator line where it said to be the closest to the sun, So I am always in a hot climate it seems. When it is become unbearable, I would go to a cafe to just have a long cold drink and brought a book to read to cool off.

during summer, i stocked my fridge with fruits like watermelon, cantaloupe and lots of fruit juices and ice cubes. every time i feel hot, i would prepare cold fruit shakes. i also wear light-colored clothes and won't go out of house during the mid of the day unless i needed to, and of course, fan is always on.

I would recommend you get an AC. Also drink lots of cold water and take shower 2 times during the day. Thats what I'm doing because the heat here is just terrible. It can go up to 110-120 degrees almost everyday. It would only cool off when it rains. If you can't afford an AC, you should get a fan for each room in your house. A fan is preferred since its more environmentally friendly. I'm currently living in Micronesia which is situated very close to the equator and i'm telling you that the days are way hotter. This global warming is real over here. Most people here complain about going outside of their houses at noon when the heat is at its peak.

Ya, I do notice that the public places like the local swimming pool, library, mall and rec center have some pretty nice air conditioning. So I would hang around those places for a while to help myself cool off. It really is a nice place to be when you are stuck in the hot summer time weather. I just hope not to get in trouble for loitering around too long at such a place.

Hi swetashah, 90 degrees???? It's so hot. I am amazed to hear so hot weather. Here is very cool right now. It's not so cold in winter and not so hot in summer.

Here in China, this summer comes late, it's still 70 degree Fahrenheit in Hefei, South China, and less than this number in my hometown in Northeast China. But last summer, I experienced the temperature out 95 degree Fahrenheit in Hefei near our final exam, I had cold shower and then blew myself with a electric fan when I was wet. and after being dried, the same process repeated again. It's really terrible to live in such a tempereture without an air conditioner.

I dont have an ac in my room. But I take some blankets, wet them completely then I put a rope above my bed and hang the blankets. and remember to switch on the fan to medium or full speed. believe me... this works. contact me if you want some more tips.
