Self Amputation

I just read a story about a Conn. Man that was trapped in his basement, while installing his furnace. He arm was apparently trapped and he tried to self amputate. It reminded me of the man who was hiking several years ago by himself and was trapped in a cave and had to amputate his own arm to break free. Would you be able to self amputate if it meant life or death?

Reminds me of the movie saw...I don't know, maybe if my life is really at stake and like there's no other choice but to do it, then probably yes.

oh That it does. I guess if you had no feeling in the arm, i think i would. I wouldn't want to die in my basement. I remember the story of the hiker and he had to cut through the major tendon in his arm. Youch! I think i would pass out! In fact i think he did several times.

OMG...he passed out several times? Thats worse...you'd wake up in pain and all. brrr.

just like in a horror movie I saw..maybe yes..I just wish I would never be in that situation though it's horrible.

People do a lot of thing when they need to survive. I think it's our survival instinct that allows us to do such things. I doubt he could ever do that (or wish to do so) if not in a very tight situation.
