how do you respond when someone backstabs you?

For me it depends on what he/she tells other people about me. First, I would confront him/her of what he/she tells about me and I would also ask why is he/she doing it. If he/she can't answer me in a very nice way I would just ignore it, because I know that anything he/she says to other were just lie and just looking for fight or whatever. And I agree with enyoung that they were just envy of you or they were just insecure, that is why they are doing it. If you would let them destroy you nothing will happen, so just ignore them as long as they will not ruin your whole life. And there's nothing to be afraid of, because there were still people who would trust you and believes in you no matter what other says against you.

I love your response! You are quite right. Letting someone believe they haven't hurt you even when they have done their best to do exactly that is always the best revenge. Smile through the pain I say. lol

yeah you are right just go on with life and you must never look back on what he did to you. if he stabs you at the back then just forgive since its not your loss its his loss that he is bad. if you leave him, it will never be the same. right? as if i know the whole story hehe . happy mylotting! =)

well if you stab her in the back then youll be committing murder lol. But joking aside, it is really hard when wrong information is being perpetrated as the truth. I for one had a problem with this one and it is hard.

If she/he is a friend, I will go directly to that person and speak to him/her. Maybe I got the wrong information from the gossiper. But if that person who back stabs me is not a friend, I will just ignore it and go on with my life. He/She might be felt insecure with me.

A person usually backstabs another cuz he wants to make himself look good. In my previous workplace someone actually backstabbed someone. What the victim did is he backstabbed him back. I agree with what you said. It's better to ignore than to do the same cuz nature almost all the time takes its toll on the backstabber. Eventually, people will stay away from him cuz of his attitude. What happened with my previous colleages was the victim took the downfall instead of the backstabber cuz he was throwing nearly unbelievable remarks to the backstabber due to his lack of composure resulting on his plan backfiring on him. If he ignored it, he might have gotten away with a clean reputation cuz the backstabber had a reputation of being a backstabber from the start. No one could have believed him of his rumors. But the victim believed that taking it to his own hands was the right thing to do. Obviously, it wasn't. I didn't care about this situation but it teaches you stuff you can use if this ever happened to you.
