Do you believe in God because you have to? Why do you believe in God

first off, I am not a Christian. I am religious, but the Gods I believe in are not the Christian God. just in case that makes a difference. none of those are the reasons why I believe in my Gods. I always think number 3 is a particularly stupid reason to follow a religion. there's so many different religions out there, that if you were believing in one of them "just in case" then why not all the rest of them too. just in case. see it doesn't work as a reason. I believe in my Gods because through my spiritual training and exploration, they are the Gods I've felt close to me, and they are the Gods I've experienced in my life. no one told me to beleive in them, the same happens to me in the afterlife whether I believe in them or not, and no one will react badly to me if I don't. I believe in them, because it's what I beleive in my heart to be the truth.

IN every continent in the world,religion exist,right!Catholics, Buddhist, Hindus, Muslims, atheist too...and all of these are talking god!but not the atheist...i believe in God, i believe that there is God,i did not see god but i always feel it inside me,there's nothing wrong too, in the words of god,it works even in these New hi-tech era,and Faith is in me,Faith is believing in one thing that you didn't actually see ,and that is God...NO one forced me to believe God,the words of God made me believe that he exist..its better to have a true god ,that can change you for good by his words,than no god at all...There is God,it exist....

I beleve inGodbecause I am not all comfortable with the answers that I get form rational thinking on questions of real importance to me. The reasoning offered by Science or any other form of rational thinking ends up in Chance, Probability and the like. I would prefer to have an answer with a positive tone to it. Like if I asked the question: What is the purpose of human life? I would not like to receive an answer that could get falsified some day. If I were to ask, Is there a purpose to human life? The only rational answer I am likely to hear is: There is none. You are as insignificant in this world as an ant. No, it is not that such an answer batters my ego. For, the religion I follow requires the battering of the ego. What should be the goal of our lives? I don't think rational thinking, could ever give an answer to this that keeps you going without getting that gnawing feeling of emptiness. Thus for me belief in God, is to wrest mysout of the gaol-like situation that rationality would tie me down to. Rationality is GOOD. It is NECESSARY. But its role is one of sweeping our minds of unnecessary dirt or cobwebs. Not to create and enjoy the bliss of Creation. I believe in God becuse it is only with the"idea" of God that you could soar so high and so wide without any limits. This limitlessness I am unable to even conceive when bound by rationality. Rationality as represented by the Rational Sciences and Technologies for me are merely a means of earning my livelihood, or manufacturing creature comforts, or I may even call it as an engaging caprice and the like. However much of expertise that I gain in these I would not make them the philosophy or the cornertone of my thinking in my life. That is filled in by God. I hope I am understood- I mean I have myself clear!

I believe in God because humans are stupid. We don't even have enough skills to just get along, let alone rule the universe, or even at least having the answers to them. The human mind and body, no matter how much potential they have, all have limitations. And it's these limitations that keep me believing that there is someone who is more capable, driving this bus. We just aren't. We're morons, headless chickens, chasing around silly things such as happiness. But seriously, humans are idiots, no matter how many robots or buildings we build, we'll always be idiots. Nice topic! ++!

I don't believe in God as I have to because my religion says so.I do it because sometimes I really have the feeling that there is some strange power that helps me for some things.It is not like lie and rely that God will make up the things for you but having the hope and believe in something gives you stregth to strive

i believe in God.. no questions.. i know He exists.. you may bombard me with reasons and logic but i stil believe in Him not because i have but because i choose to..

I was born a Hindu. I was made to believe that those idols where gods and forced to pray. Now i have realized the truth. The absolute truth. God reveals to one who goes in search of him. a little bit of research will reveal the true god. I am now a believer of the real god. I read the bible. Its all there and everything has got a proof. I had lot of questions in my mind about life, the creations and all of them were answered when i started believing in him. Don't simply classify me as just another Christian coz i am not.

I feel God in my being that is why I give my all to Him.

I believe in God because personally have experience Him move in my life.He is always there to protect me and guide me in everything that I do..I can feel His presence.

I was taught to believe in God as a child. My parents taught me this because they felt it was their duty to do so. As I became an adult, I realized that so much of religion simply did not add up. Couple this with what I saw of the world and I started to question. There couldn't be a God. Looking at the stars one night, I realized how wonderous everything was. I looked at the science of today and how things did seem to add up. I realized that if God existed then everything did have to add up. Somehow even the people factor must add up. If God truly existed, then He could be found. This became the start of my journey to discovery. In time more and more pieces came together. The more I discovered the truth:the more genius I discovered in it all. I decide God must be very smart. AS with all paths of discovery,it leads you to where you need to be. I discovered God. To my surprise, God wasn't like what religion was telling me. At this point religion became obsolete.The first thing you notice about God is the high IQ. We are merely ants.The first thing God worked on me was my narrow view. All of mankind carries a very narrow view. I work on mine everyday. Today, I am still on my road of discovery. I find there is so very much to learn and so very much I do not see. All the secrets of the universe stare us in the face. It's all a test of intelligence. CAN YOU SEE????? Now there is no longer a need to believe just to know and discover.

Yes, I do believe in God. Before, I used to say, I had to believe in God because I have to. But life changes and so is your thinking. People come and go in your lives. People change and people fail. I thought , the other people serve as my inspiration, but I was wrong because people make mistakes. There should be someone out there that I can hold on to and should keep me grounded that should be perfect and somebody I could emulate. And it is no other than God. I have come to understand that I have to strengthen my faith. It is only my belief in God that will keep me going and make me stronger despite that odds that come in living as a human being.

My answer is simple! I believe in God because I believe in Him. It's not a task or a favor for me to believe in Him. I just BELIEVE in Him...

For me I BELIEVE IN GOD not just because i have to believe him; not because someone forcing me; not because someone will get mad at me; not because it will save me from the fires of hell; and not because it wouldn't hurt to believe HIM... Simply because I LOVE HIM! i had something to tell you; aim only 18 yrs now old and back then i already reading a bible. my biggest mistake was i only read a bible then because i want to save myself from hell but GOD enlighten me by his words; Ive red this that if youre believing HIM because you want to save from hell you will not be save, believe in HIM with all your heart soul...God bless!

Yes I do really believe in God because I have so many blessings he gave to me... he answered my prayers, he gave me a very loving son and he gave me a wonderful family,,, I do believe in him not just because I have to.. I have so much faith in God because he's our father Almighty and without God we are nothing in this world.. God save our lives... we all humans are sinners and if you believe in him nothing is impossible to him...

I believe in the concept of God simply coz I feel nice about it. Believing that something benign is watching over me, caring for me and protecting me is a wonderful feeling. Also God is the ultimate refuge in all situations…accepting the vagaries of life as God’s decision, makes it easier to move ahead in life…knowing that in the end, no matter what happens, God is always there even if nobody else is…it’s a wonderful strength from within.

I believe in Jahovah because i have seen how he has done works in my life. I will not go into details because its personal.

I believe in God because the universal evidence says there is a God.

I believe in God because I believe in his visible form Jesus. He was the one who told me about God the father. I believe every word he has spoken. I believe he abides as Holy Spirit. Besides this there is no other reason.

I USED to believe in a "God" It was because my parents did and the people around me also did. It seemed almost certain that there had to be a "God" to keep the Universe together and working. It was only when I was 22 that it was pointed out to me that my "God" was GLUE and if there was NO glue that the Universe would still continue the same way. Then I learned that the idea of a "God" is a myth and really IT has no purpose in the Universe.

The concept of god was created by men to inflict fear to fellow men. The belief of god is not a person's concept that he/she believes his existence but it's what the society wants us to believe. Anyone who do not believe his existence are termed as evil or demons. I disagree with that idea of categorizing a person just because he/she doesn't believe in his existence. I would prefer to believe in what I can possibly do than relying our hopes and fate to someone which we ourselves can't even understand his existence.
