do you have an insomnia?

It just happened this following days that I cannot sleep in the right time. Usually, I go to bed at 11pm then starting to close my eyes. But then, there are times that no matter what I do, I cannot sleep. It's annoying, because I really want to sleep for the whole 8 hours (because that's the enough time that we need rest if I'm not mistaken). So friends, if you have the same experience as mine, can you please share it here and how did you overcome this problem, except from taking sleeping pills.

I don't have insomnia but lately I noticed that I woke up every 12 midnight wandering my thoughts. I just ignore it but I can feel in the morning that I didn't fall a good sleep. I make up to sleep in the middle of morning time. Maybe of something that we eat or drink lately that we could not sleep. Maybe we lack exercise. What I usually do, I will avoid caffeine at 6 hours before going to bed. I will drink a glass of milk or chocolate. Then that's it, I can have a good night sleep.

Yeah I think you're right. Lack of exercise is one of the main reason. The only exercise I did is just a short walk outside, LOL.. Too lazy. Caffeine is also the reason I'm thinking but it's too hard to avoid coffee.. I love it.. But then I'm drinking milk at night before going to bed. Thanks for responding adeena. Goodnight.

I have had this problem since turning 50 years of age back 3 years ago. I will go to bed tired but then find I can't shut my brain down. I keep thinking and thinking and tossing and turning. Its a horrible situation to find oneself in. I can't stand that I can no longer get a good straight 8 hours of sleep anymore. I have in the past 4 months seen a marked improvement I believe all due to praying to God before I sleep. It has helped but I still haven't gotten to 8 hours of sleep only 6 to 7 hours. Which I'm grateful for. They say you need to go to bed at the same time each night so your body gets on a set schedule. However, in my case when you can't shut the brain down it doesn't matter what time to go to bed. Good luck to you and hope you get to the eight hours of sleep that you want.

Yeah, as far as I am concerned, I think I may have a little insomnia in my life. When the time I am going to have a sleep, I may feel it is a little difficult for me to sleep. I just turn atound on the bed, just can not go into sleep. For me, I think I may need the more serious condition for sleep, which may be no noise, no light, the most important one is that can be so dark in my sleeping area!

I was once experiencing a insomnia, after I observed was one cause of insomnia is because our minds depressed and tense. Avoid anything that makes the mind think of stress and find something that makes our mind relaxed and able to make us laugh, like to see the beautiful flowers, see the aquarium, watched cartoons etc.. Then to overcome insomnia, I always use the following techniques (the technique I learned from a friend in the field of health experts): - Drink milk before bed. - Warm bath before bedtime. - Dinner is approximately two hours before bedtime. - Perform meditation to quiet the mind. some way above proved potent enough to overcome insomnia.

Occationally I come up with this problem. When it's hard for me to go into sleep,I will put on my headphone and listen to some music for relaxing.Musics containing natual sounds will be a quite good choice.

you could try melatonin which is available at health food stores and is produced by your body naturally. sleep is like a bank; you have to keep depositing and not only withdrawing or else you end up suffering.

I don't have this problem. Actually I fall asleep quite soon. Perhaps I am already tired and sleepy. Therefore, I don't have an insomnia. When you can't sleep, try to relax yourself at first. Set the right temperature, and close your eyes and I think it can be helpful. I heard that drinking a cup of milk will be helpful for the insomnia, perhaps you can try it. I love China

I have problems sleeping for two reasons. Sometimes they are a combination of the two and sometimes one or the other. But, it is consistent. The first reason is my menstrual cycle. I have a hard time sleeping around the time that I am ovulating. So, you might track your cycle and see if you have a hard time sleeping around the same time of the month. If so, another cause may be if you snack a lot during that time because your hormones are screaming for caffeine or sweet or salty foods. If so, do you snack late at night? If you eat too late, your body won't metabolize the food quick enough and that can cause you to have a hard time sleeping. And, this can happen any time. Not just certain times in your menstrual cycle. I try not to eat past 7 pm because, any time after that and I won't be able to sleep. Also, if you drink caffeinated beverages, try not to drink anything with caffeine in it past 3 pm. Caffeine has a long shelf life in our bodies, and some people are more sensitive to it than others, so it will linger in your body for a long time and may make it hard to sleep. Other things that can help you sleep are turning down the lights about an hour before you go to bed. Don't do anything too stimulating too late at night. For example, experts will say not to watch TV, play video games, exercise, or do anything on the computer for at least an hour before you go to bed. Those activities keep your mind active and that can make it hard for you to fall asleep and to stay asleep. So, turn the lights down about an hour before you go to bed, lie down on the couch or in bed and maybe consider reading a book. Good luck! I hope this helps.

One thing that will help you fall asleep is to get really exhausted before you sleep. Maybe do laundry, clean the house or even exercise because it will help you fall asleep because you are tired. Also if that doesn't work like me i take benedryl at night. Doctors say this is the best way because your not on a pill like some people are that can't sleep. I find this to be the best way as i do wake up in the middle of the night but i wake up not being tired and feel good.

In addition to what others have said i'd like to add why don't you read some book which is serious or boring. The tediousness of the exercise will take you to the land of the nod.If possible take a walk or aerobic exercise and you'll be reasonably tired.Have a bath with warm water and desist operating the computer or doing any activity which excites your senses and makes you wide awake.Relax your mind by keeping it blank devoid of all thoughts which stimulate your thinking and i'm sure you'll soon fall asleep.

Yeah I have an insomnia, its 3am here but I couldn't put myself into sleep. This is my nightmare before but now I used to it and in fact I benefit from this disorder. I can't write a blog in the morning because my son will destruct my attention and instead of trying to sleep well here I am alive and almost done with my assignment.

I also had this problem back then but as of now... it seems it's cured? I had a difficulty in sleeping. I go to bed at 10 pm... during 1 am... I am still awake. I can't seem to sleep. But now, I guess because of all the things I do everyday which is really so tiresome... Iget to sleep as soon as I touch the bed... Well I think it's a good thing. I hope you get over your insomnia just the way I did. Happy mylotting and God Bless!

I wouldnt call it insomnia, but more like my night time clock is backward. I work a rotating shift, so for a few weeks i work days and few weeks i work nights. But by the time i get back to normal sleeping habits my work schedule changes again. In a way its kinda funny, cause now i can sleep all day or sleep all night and some cases be up all day and night. When i wanna sleep and can't it can be hard cause my body clock is off, but i've gotten used to it. But when i feel tired and know i'm tired and can't sleep, i just take something and that normally helps.

Is it correct to call this an "insomnia"? I have insomnia every other day. It's like this: tonight I have an insomnia, then tomorrow, gone. Then the following day again, I have insomnia again, then the next day, insomnia is gone again.

Well - this is a common problem with many here. There were days when people used to do hard work which resulted in making the body active and also tired because of work, this resulted in good digestion indirectly exercising the body and also making one to have a sound sleep. Norw gone are these beautiful and wonderful days. Now we have many unwanted desires which will not be fulfilled at all which results in multiple thoughts,no exercise of the body all white collar jobs and what not. How can one expect good sleep......... Hence, plan your schedule for improving your health, and automatically sleep will come. If you suspect to have Insomnia it will run away from you..........
