Do you believe in "jinxing" things?

Has a friend or a loved one ever said to you, "Shh, don't say that, you'll jinx it!"? I've had it said to me a whole bunch of times, and while sometimes I think it's just silly, there are other times when I believe it might be true. Like when a friend told me not to talk about a particular sports team and the FIFA world cup, because I might jinx their chances of winning, I laughed it off. But sometimes, when I've got a good thing going, I fear that just by thinking about the said good thing, I'm practically begging the universe to spoil it for me. And 8/10 times, it's been spoiled. :P So my question to you myLotters is this - do you believe in the power of the "jinx"? :)

LOL. Maybe you did jinx yourself! I don't really believe in it, I just say it often. I guess because I'm so used to it. The kids at my work say it a lot, especially when they say the exact same thing at the same time. It's funny to hear.

I do not know for sure about believing in the jinx as such, I do think that sometimes you can ruin a good thing by overthinking it.
