Is shopping a stress-free activity or not?

Hi, just want to know if you happen to define that shopping is a way of relaxing. That we are doing this activity to de-stress ourselves. That when we shop, our mind are being relaxed.
Do you find this activity, a way of relaxation? Do you find shopping a stress-free activity? Or you think it on other way around - that shopping will add up to your stress especially if you purchase the things thru credit card?

Nope, I don't find shopping relaxing at all. It's just something I have to do. I enjoy shopping online a lot more though, because I can do it from the comfort of my own home. Walking around in stores for hours is exhausting. When I do shop, I always know exactly what I'm looking for before I even walk in the store.

With reference to your response, you are somehow like my bestfriend. That when she planned to go to the Mall, she already knew exactly what she will going to buy. That, she has all the infos of the product, as to its model, size, color, etc. and even where exactly the store to buy the particular product. So just like you, she knows exactly what she is looking for before she proceed in the store.

I don't find it relaxing too...but there are sometimes that I get tempted to do shopping though there is nothing in particular that I wanted to buy. But at the end of the day, I hate the fact that I had been walking around stores and big shooping malls for hours, then went home with sore legs, even shoulder... and just with a pair of new clothes or something with me. I'm a person who loves trekking and mountaning and all.... but I admit, shopping to me is not as peaceful as that. Also too much crowd.. and too much noise..

I hate shopping! I hate dealing with crowds. I hate having to try on clothes. I hate having to decide if I really need it or not. I hate trying to keep my kids in line while we're out shopping somewhere. All in all the entire experience is always very stressful!

Shopping is what you make it. If it stresses you out to go shopping, you will carry this with you. if shopping relaxes you, this will show through as well. i find shopping to be an enjoyable experience. i can shop with someone or alone. It is a time when i can be what I want where I want and how i want. Shopping is freedom and freedom is stress free!

I know some of my friends that really enjoy shopping. They're tireless when it comes to shopping clothes, shoes, etc. I think its 1 of their ways to remove stress. But me I get stressed when I'm with them. I get tired easily for all the walking. It takes time for them to find what they want!

Good day to you,
With regard to the second sentence prior to last that you have written, I remember my bestfriend, just like you, she easily gets tired when it comes to walking.

For me, I'd say it depends. If I shop alone I think it is a great way to relax a bit, and get your mind off work etc., but if I shop with others, I don't enjoy it as much. I never pay with credit cards over use money I can't afford to spend though!

i think it depends on the person. am a psychology graduate and if a person views possessions of any kind makes him better than others then shopping can relieve one of stress, worries or insecurities.
some people shop, some people who view they are better than others with accomplishments work. some people who view themselves better than others by having a familiy take care of their familites better. those who know they cook better than others cook to releive them of stress. so you see, it depends.

Yes, indeed. Shopping is one of my favorite activities. I love buying new set of clothes, new pair of shoes and new accessories. I also enjoy eating delicious kind of foods when I go out for shopping. It's really a very nice way to relieve stress for me. The only thing is, I cannot do it as often as I want to. I need to tighten up my belt in order to save money for future purposes. How I wish I am very rich so I can do all the things that I'd love to do.

You have to ask this question to my girlfriend, she loves to shop, and she will definitely tell you the exact answer. Shopping is a stress - free activities for her. For me, that is a boring activities, and also adding a lot of stress too. Because when you think about how much you gonna spend on those stuff that is redundant, you would get a headache instantly.

Well I find shopping a way to relax me, I feel as if I'm in control and I'm not thinking about anything else other than clothing. In addition it gives me plenty of satisfaction. Yes I understand that's how people got in debt in the first place but it makes me feel good about myself.

Shopping for me is not that relaxing due to the cost it will occur. However, window shopping is nice for me.Especailly outside is raining heavily or outside is having a heat wave going.Going to shopping mall will be suitable in those 2 scenerio.Going to window shopping with girlfriend is stressful since may have to buy stuffs. If alone i with guy friends we prefer to window shop at hardware shops looking at new IT gagdets or new tools gagdets. Then it will be relaxing and stress free.sometime will take children to book stores to browse books. That is good for children i prefer bring small one to bookstore rather than toy shops.

For me it's absolutely false. I hate shopping, it's a real torture to me.
When I hear the noise or smell the odor in a shop/market/mall... I feel really uncomfortable and dizzy. That's terrible.
I only buy things in need. I prefer to buy them online, or I'll investigate carefully and determine one or two online, and go to the place directly and get them soon.

I enjoy shopping a lot. In fact, it's my go-to happy place whenever I'm stressed or feeling low. Yes, the spending does make me feel a little bad sometimes, but I usually know how much I'm going to be spending, and I stick to that budget, so I don't get strung out while I'm at a mall. :) Plus, just browsing through all the racks of clothing and shoes and anything else is calming in itself, even if I don't end up actually buying anything! :D

Definitely not stress free for me. I could be going to the mall in the best of mood but if there is too many people there I start to freak out and it drives my wife nuts!
On the other hand i could go to the mall or target with a list of everything that i need, but end up looking for things that i want, and i will convince myself why i want of need that cool video game or something for my car, or nice running shoes. But i will talk my self in and out of it at least ten times, to the point that it gets dropped off in some random isle and i quickly leave the store because i almost bought it. But on the way home i will be beating myself up on why i should have bought whatever the heck it was. And i may even in the long wrong convince myself to go all the way back to the store and buy it. then (lol) after doing so I will hate myself for buying it!
Wheew, so my wife and I have an understanding that we try to avoid shopping on a regular basis, so it is almost like a special occasion for us. sad huh?

Hi cher: I think that's the worst part of going shopping. There are so many things you'd like to buy and at the same time you have to be careful with your budget. So, I think it's important to know how much money would you like to spend and what exactly are you wanting to buy? Thanks for your answer. Have a nice day.
ALVARO.

In addition to your comment, it is somehow the dissapointing part. That you dont have the power or I may say, the capacity to buy those things that you wanted. That, you always try to compute in order that you wont exceed to the allocated budget.

For me, shopping is a great stress reliever. I always feel happier and more at ease after I go shopping with my friends or with my mother. It's not always about the clothes I find but somethings just about bonding with people that are close to you. You can have some really good conversations while you are shuffling through the racks of shirts.

The response is very well said.
Good point. You hit it right. That, shopping is not merely buying, it also connotes bonding. A moment wherein you spend a quality time to your love ones. Or if I may say, to the people that are close to you.

It is relaxing if
1 - No shop assistant tailing me around. If I need help, I'll call for them. It's not like I'll steal anything.
2 - The shop is not crowded. I can't stand crowd. I can't even push my trolley without hitting someone.
I don't use credit card and I only do window shopping most of the time so I don't really care about spending too much. It's not like I'll purchase each item I lay my eyes on.

A pleasant day to you.
You are a lucky enough. You can go shopping without needing to go for work to earn a money. Maybe you were born with a silver spoon in your mouth. That you can go for shopping without working at all.
Congratulations.
