Why Spend Hours in a Store

It is Saturday and I'll be going to work soon.
I would RATHER be home, going swimming or going to the park but I have to make money so I'll be spending the next 9 hours in a building.
Some days I have customers come in and they will spend 2 or 3 hours just looking in the store.
On a beautiful weekend day, why do people WANT to spend it indoors shopping?
They spend hours in the store, then come to the counter and talk about how beautiful it is outside and how nice it is to be out, but they are NOT out, they have been inside for hours.
I have never understood the appeal of hours long shopping sprees. Can someone explain it to me?

For me it was always a pleasure to go shopping and stay hours at the mall . I can't really explain why I enjoy this so much , but when I see the endless possibilities that are in stores I go crazy . Then I usually take a break to go for lunch with my friends at a restaurant and then maybe go to a movie or just hang out a little bit more in the mall . It so relaxing and when you are with your friends it's even better . You can have a lot of fun and you can make a very pleasant experience . Of course that an camp or just going to the park when it's a beautiful weather does not deserve to be wasted . I like to keep things in a balance . But probably because you work in a building you are tired of this environment .

I've never liked shopping, even before I worked a retail job. I've just never liked being locked away in a building with no windows when it is a beautiful day I'd like to be outside enjoying.

Its not a matter of wanting to, its a matter of having the time. We too are busy!!

Too busy? I'm confused. How is too busy related to people who spend hours shopping? I don't think shopping is busy, unless you're shoping for needs like groceries. I don't work in a needs type of store though, just a wants type.

I do go shopping in the weekends, mostly because I don't have so much time for it otherwise. (Not every weekend or anything, but it happens)
I try to make it quick though, so it doesn't take me hours, and I also try to plan where I want to go in advance. But some people enjoy chatting to fellow shoppers and staff, so I think that would be the reason you are after...
