I am looking at the health issue that alot of people say that by eating alot of salads rather than other foods it helps with less in takes of salts aswell as fats that can do us harm as most intake would be water as that is the main thing in a salad as long asz you have just the salad and nothing else with the salad.

I think eating salads definitely help good weight loss. As long as you are not putting junk into the salad like lunch meats and cheeses. A salad with a piece of grilled chicken or turkey is great I think in maintaining good health. Healthy veggie all mixed together with a good healthy dressing is great. Its also a great source of fiber and nutrients that we all need. Eating processed foods does a number on ones body and will catch up to you later in life with many medical problems. I try to eat a daily intake of at least 3 veggies and 3 fruits a day to maintain my weight plus I drink plenty of Green tea.

Eating salads can be good for your health, but I don't believe eating just salads can be good for you. After a while you will be missing out on vitamines, get more easily tired and be more vulnerable for things like the flue. If you want to drop some weight and keep it off there is no wonder treatment or diet that will keep it off. The combination of exercise and a healthy diet is the only way to go. It's also said that losing weight at a slow but steady pace is better than a whole lot at once, because in the last case it will gain fast again aswell. The same goes for starving yourself or dropping on the calories you eat. It will work for a short while but unless you keep doing it for every day you live from now on, you will start gaining again for everything you eat (even if it's healthy but more calories/proteine/etc).
Salads can be good, but just salads won't take you all the way.

I think that there are alot of people that tend to eat salad as they are on a diet, but when you look at all the salad dressing that they add with it aswell as other times maybe a burger aswell i think what is the point in them eating the salad to begin with.

It´s not salads instead of other food, I think. A good meal is a well balanced one. We should eat several servings of salads (better if they are different veggies) but we have to beware of the dressings which can turn a good salads into a bomb.
Our body needs carbohidrates, proteins and some fat besides what salads give. Health is not starving. A well balanced meal will take you to weight loss if you are overweight.
Take care!

Yes its very true that if one eats only salads by good quantity and nothing else then in this scenario the person is cutting down the oily stuff and the salt at the same time therefore when one do away with the oils and sodium, its obvious that our body is clean; though now days our salt is iodine added which helps the baby's brain development and so the intelligence of our forthcoming generation.
Hence, the more we attached ourselves with the raw nature the better we are on every aspect physically, mentally and spiritually.
Its been well known that the present day domesticated animals too are getting their teethes are are full of dental diseases just b'coz they are exposed to the same food stuff that we human are subject to,while the wild counterparts are free of those gum decay and as such.
At the end we can easily assume that natural way of our life was better off then the present day life, with all such electronic gadgets.

Hi alphonse!!! Your name itself speaks a lot and quite similar to the category of a well known Mango fruit which itself a very natural product like the salad, though you enjoy the macaroni salad along with the pasta which seems very delicious too but over here we rarely go for such mixture most of the time we eat it without any other human made industrial product. Its just the natural one which is as raw as possible and this too taste nice,in particular I preferably keep some for the last serving to cleanse my mouth with it at the end

Eating salads is very healthy and nutritious. Our bodies need whaat salds can provide us. Salads are a good way to control weight loss and eat well at the same time. you have to balance eating salads with other menu items. While salads are great, don't make them your only nutrition.

i think salads are really good and healthy for our body..but salt is not good at all..we should avoid eating foods with salt..you can get a cooking book that are specially designed with no salt..i got one myself and we've tried a couple of dishes already..and even if the food doesn't have salt in it, it is still delicious..

That's not exactly true. If you look at the sodium in most dressings, you'll see they are sky high! I make my own most of the time because of that. But as long as you watch the salt and get enough protein and a few carbs, salads are good dieting aids. At least they fill you up for awhile!

Salads work and you can put much different things in them. Greens are important in all salads, but then they can have veggies, fruits, fish, eggs, chicken and more. I make my own dressing to control what goes into it. basic is 1/3rd vinigar or acid to 2/3rds oil. Then add what ever you want. mustard is good,
all types of herbs, salt,(controlled) and pepper.

Yes as long as it's just vegetables and maybe a little bit of fruits. You can have things on it as long as they are not packed with calories. There are some dressings where it is healthy to eat on salads, but most are just adding a ton of extra calories. I must have dressing on my salad or else I will not eat it.

Eating salads is not a good diet plan. You need to eat a variety of foods and eat normally. Most salads you eat at restaurants are loaded with calories. What you put in a salad matters a lot. Salad dressing, eggs, cheese, and meat all add up.

I was chatting to a friend today and even when you eat out alot of people will have a side salad with all the dressings aswell as chips only to say that they are watching their weight, lol, i find that soo funny.Salad on its own is ok but i could not eat it all the time as it has no taste aswell as it would get boring after a while.

Yes eating salad is very good for health as well as weight lose.
When a person regular eat cucumber then the chance of fat will lower. And when a person will eat carrots everyday there skin will be bright. And we all know the important of tomato.

First of all, tomatoes contain a lot of vitamin C, which helps the body to produce collagen which is important for our skin, scar tissue, tendons, ligaments, and blood vessels. Just 10 servings of tomatoes a week can cut the chance of prostrate cancer by 45% because of the lycopene in it, this also lowers the risk of colorectal cancer and stomach cancer, and inhibits the growth of other types of cancer cells, it can also help older folks remain active.Tomatoes are a good source of potassium, niacin, vitamin B6, and folate. Niacin has been used for years to lower cholesterol. Potassium has been shown to lower high blood pressure.

While lettuce is mostly water, you would be surprised at the nutrition content.
http://www.nutritiondata.com/facts/vegetables-and-vegetable-products/2476/2
Lettuce has Iron, Calcium, Vitamin A, Vitamin C...the list goes on. Granted they are not record numbers, but considering that lettuce only has 10 calories per cup I would say it is pretty healthy and it contains a lot of nutrition for the number of calories. Add in some other veggies that are low in calories and high in nutrients for the calorie content like celery( http://www.nutritiondata.com/facts/vegetables-and-vegetable-products/2396/2 ) and you have a pretty healthy snack or meal.

Salads of mixed greens are very healthy, but people often make them unhealthy by what they add. One thing about salads is that lettuce is a free food so while it won't cause you to gain weight it doesn't raise your blood sugar and even diabetics need a certain level of glucose in the body just to be able to walk across the room so remember to eat some fruit.

Overall I would say a hearty yes! However, if it is swimming in dressing and other high fat options that can be on a salad, then I'd say no way!It all depends on what is in the salad really.

I know what you are saying as there are alot of people that cover the salad in lots of dressing aswell as they tend to have other things with the salad like when they goto a bbq.I tend to have a salad with abit of bread rather than any meat and never have any dressing with it as i know that most dressings are not good if you are trying to shift some weight.

I think eating salads will help with weight loss and give you more fiber and nutrients than some foods. It all depends what you put on them though. Some salads can have more calories than a hamburger, or something fatty.
I eat a lot of salads, especially in the summer because I want something cold. I eat a lot of them because I like them and I am always watching my weight.

I hope that salads will help me keep the weight off as i am not able to exercise,so this may help.I tend not to put mayo dressings on my salad as that is something that is not great with the weight. My husband has also gained weight so i hope the salads will also help him aswell as the children eating healthier food.

generally, most salads are healthful... but those made of pasta and other carbo foods are not... so are those with plentiful of mayonnaise, they are not healthy too... green salads with vinegar and pepper are the best, in terms of healthy foods...

I think it is really helpful in losing weight, especially fruit and vegetable salads, because it has lots of fibers to increase your metabolism and we can get lots of vitamins from fruits and vegetable to have a healthy body. But then drinks lots of water to lessen some toxins in our skin. :)

I think that salad is great in the summer as in the summer you seem to want to eat alot less food than you do in the winter aswell as that we prefer to not to cook in the summer aswell.I am trying to keep all the weight off aswell as trying to get the children to eat more healthy.
