HELP!!! I can cook just fine in the house, melt in your mouth, totally delicious! but when I cook on the grill its a disaster!!!! Any suggestions? This is a gas grill, with a hood, thermomenter in the hood, stainless steel (?) with 6 or 8 burners, also has a built in rotisseire (that alone would be another subject!) plus 1 side burner, self ignite. Totaly dreamy grill,.......not my food!!!!
I know to turn my heat down as low as possible and to be patient (not one of my gifts!) but I am not doing something right. Last night I made marinated turkey breast, it started burning in the pan and wasn't done so I added water to the pan. My turkey is dry and has a 'burned' flavor to it although every one said it was fine. NICE PEOPLE!!!! After my last meal I am surprised anyone would risk my grilling attemps again! That time I charcoaled burned EVERYTHING!!!! Even the cat stuck her nose up at it!!!
So if anyone has any tips I would be very thankful, since all my grill books tell me this is terrific, wonderful and easy and to arrange coals (don't have coals) and to turn the heat down! Anyway, my supper plans are grilled pork chops or burned not sure which!!!!!!

Bless your heart, i wish i could help u. I always heard practice makes perfect but as expensive as food it i know u don't want to burn it up. I use to grill alot when my youngest was still home. I was not a gourmet griller that's for sure but it was edible.I had a gas grill that my mother gave me but i never did like it as well as a plain o' charcoal one. It got where it wouldn't light itself & i was afraid to light it, have always been afraid of gas. My neighbor took it & i was glad to get rid of it. I have thought about going & getting me a charcoal one every summer for years now & think good grief not worth the trouble for just me. I hope u get things worked out to be a goumet grill chef.

My step son cooked on this grill and even burned the hot dogs! He told me it was to 'fancy'!.... I have cooked on it before and had wonderful luck. But so far this year everything has been a disaster!!!! Before, I was working so didnt ever get to use it much. The grill is 'fancy' compared to other grills but we got it on a good sale....my middle daughter asked me what I paid for it, she said she couldn't afford stainless steel and I just looked at her and said "I paid less for that then you are paying for those speeding tickets!"....she had several tickets at that time. She would tell me its only so many minutes to somewhere and I would tell her "yep and YOU have the tickets to prove it!"
I like cooking on the grill because it is so hot in the house, although yesterday I made 2 pumpkin pies and home made bread for our meal.....at least something wasn't burned, well, my potatoes weren't and neither were my baked beans. So I guess I am improving!!! Thanks for your response.......oh I am like you...afraid of gas!!! I always have my husband or daughter light it for me!!!!
When I was taking my kids camping I had charcoal and used wood but we just cooked hot dogs or hamburgs or reheated food so it was very very simple!!!!!

U know i'm just wondering if there is not something wrong w/your grill. If u had good luck w/it at first i don't know why u would be now. I love things grilled out from hot dogs to steaks. it does keep the house from getting so hot but w/all those other good things u cooked inside u are one smart lady & u take such good care of your family by fixing them good things to eat all the time. I know they appreciate u[ they better].Have a good one. Take care. jo

That is probley part of my problem what I use to have was electric. Built into my stove, actually my cooktops were removeable, I had the grill, burners, griddle. They unpluged and came out and I could drop a different one in, depending on what I wanted to do. But my stove was over 20 years old and some of my units were burned out and unavailable any more for replacement. We checked into replacing the stove but couldn't get what I had and also had another problem that the stove was a 'drop in' unit and to get another one the ovens downvented but our house isn't build for the downdrafts. Under my stove is a basement and the vent would go down into the bedroom downstairs. WE couldn't go out the side of the house, because all along the side is stone work! So we found this grill on sale and got it. Then I bought a griddle when I found one that I liked, and we just replaced the stove a couple years ago. I did fine cooking on the inside grill but this is an all neew experience for me. I have learned a lot. Still trying new things. I thought that I might find some good tips on here. I have several grilling cookbooks but they don't give me the 'experienced' tips like I can get from people. Thanks for your response. I don't do so many fried foods as I bake them in the oven, but now it is so hot that it puts to much heat i nthe house.
